Hi can anyone advise me when the Non Tvis AE92 Hi Torque came in ??

was it in 1989 or 1990 ???

or was it by the actual colour of the car ??

Anyway its easy to spot, the large port 4age has a smooth inlet manifold with a T-Vis Badge on it,,,,, the narrow port non-tvis has a ripped inlet manifold with no Badge,

I've got two AE92 Gti's. Both on G plates. One has the good old T-VIS, but the other has that high torque, narrow port jobber.

Both were sold here, on the Isle of Wight. I couldnt tell you when the 'change over', was, exactly. The one with the latter non T-VIS, was first registered in June 1990. Also, the one with the T-VIS, was registered in September 1989.

So, i can say. Somewhere between September '89 and June 1990.

Definately 1990 though :P

Got to say, i prefer the earlier T-VIS engine. It may not have quite as much power, or peform as smoothly as the other one, but it sounds gruntier, and performs more like a motorbike engine!!
