Interior Light

Hi

Can anyone tell me if the interior light should come on and stay on for a short period when the car is unlocked using the remote or the key. I have a November 2001 Avensis GS 1.8 petrol and the interior light works OK and stays on for a short while if a door is opened but no light comes on when the car is unlocked using the remote keypad. All my previous cars have illuminated inside when opened either by key or by remote. Unfortunately I did not get a driver's handbook when I bought this car second hand. thanks

This is normal. The light will only illuminate once you open the doors, not when you unlock from the remote.
