What Documents Are Needed For Import Car?

I'm going to have a look at an MR2 turbo on Thursday but unfortunately there's not much paperwork as he has done all of the work himself. I don't think that there are import documents either?

What documents are needed to make this a legal UK car?

If its all been imported already and been in the contry for a while he should have a V5 (logbook) and current MOT like any other uk car. Mines imported (1998) and didnt have any import docs. If its only just hit the shores im not sure......

It was imported four years ago. So as long as he has the V5 for it I should be ok?

Should be ok, look at the V5, at hte date of reg bit should say something like:

"registered 1999 (declared manufatured 1991)" or some such

if its been in the contry for four years it should already be UK legal, i.e uk dials showing MPH (odometer can still be in km, most just change the dial faces i believe), have a V5, MOT. Pretty much treat it like a uk car, the complicated bits done already!
