Twang - Bang Went My Bootlid!

Getting the shopping out of my boot, when I closed the boot lid it made an awfull sound, sounded like I had trapped something in the lid, went to open it and the lid was dead heavy, the spring has snapped!!!

Anyway, question is, rather than replacing the spring unit, is there a Gas Ram kit for the bootlid?

Don't know about gas struts, for it I'm afraid. Not sure where you'd be able to fix them. But if you want to go that route try those people in Derby who keep getting a mention on here. The Lexus owners club have a discount deal with them too, so you might be able to tap into that given that they're closely related to TOC.

I've seen plenty of springs for sale on eBay from time to time, and replacing like for like should be easy. Apart from snapping occasionally the spring mechanism works well, so personally I'd go that route.

I'd just get a spring mate. No need for struts I'd say. The stock spring holds the boot open fine.

Engine bay though, I'd say struts.

I like the idea of pulling the catch and the boot fully opening instead of using your hand!

now thats just lazy LOL :lol: The amount of energy you need to lift the boot is very little, you can even lift it with your little finger :P

If you can find one I would say it would be around £40 - £60
