Cts 200bhp?

I just want to share the information I read in a greek

magazine called EVO. It has a gasoline test using a CTS as a test car.

They measured on the dyno 198 bhp using the unleaded fuel (95 ron)

and 200.6 using the super unleaded (100 ron) with a maximum

torgue of 202 Nm. They claim that they did the dyno test 5 times

and that the differences between the measurements were negligible (1-2 bhp).

Could that be true? I really hope so.:drool:

could be true... is it a standard CTS? they're supposed to push out 189bhp....

might just be a freak occurance and the CTS that was tested is a Monster Rolla  :arrgg-matey:

or the rolling road might be innacurate...

Yes it is a standard cts. I have heard that toyota

deliberately downgrades the true figures of its cars

for insurance reasons, but that could be just rumors.

lol, that's undoubtedly rumours m8...

they would probably show a slower 0-60 book time on paper than the Celica TS to avoid people seeing it in direct competition.... but they would not show a lower bhp figure.

There'd be no reason!

190bhp to 200bhp. An increase of 5% by substituting 95 RON for 100RON fuel (thats unavailable in the UK)

No problem with that, I would imagine if the ECU was mapped to that specific fuel (using a Unichip for instance) even more power would be forthcoming...

The same thing has been done with VW engines. The 1.4 and 1.6 Golf

engines were reported as 75 and 100 bhp by VW. But after

dyno-testing them by some magazines they showed to be 88 and 110 bhp.

So if VW has done it before why not Toyota?

Hi,

It is true. The "ron" scale shows how much pressure the fuel can withstand before it self-ignites when in the cylinder. It is mostly a guide to prevent using fuel that pre-iginite before the spark, resulting in engine kick.

Edit: And yes, they do downsize performance a bit (anyone ever wonder how the last E11 was rated 115hp and the E12 110hp, while in essence they had the same engine?)

So if i use 98 ron like i do. My celica should have more like 200Bhp than 190Bhp?

From what i've read with 98 ron it would be 193Bhp? When my engine has done 5,000miles i'll have it Rolling Roaded.

the vw golf gtdi is quoted as 150bhp and max power magazine rolling roaded 5 of them and the average over the 5 was 180bhp! more powerful than the gti golf!
