Hi there,

I have a problem, at idle... im sitting in the car and the steering wheel shakes out of control. But as soo as you apply your foot to the accelarator (ie, rev the throttle) it stops shaking. Car is automatic, what could be the problem?

check engine mounts, in particular rear gearbox mount

with the engine cold and not running...............

Get hold of the rocker cover/top of the engine and try to rock the whole engine backwards and forwards. If there's a clunk then there's a good chance that the rear mount is hoofed. It should move very slightly, but nothing major.

With the engine hot and not running............. same procedure but apply savlon to your badly burned hands afterwards ! :P
