Oil Warning! Carina E 1.8 '96

Oil warning lamp is coming on intermittently. This happens when the engine is on the overrun, when decelerating, but only when the engine is cold or cool. After 15 minutes of running, it stays off mostly. The oil level is correct too, but I'm not sure if these cars need a special grade of oil - any ideas?

Not sure but check for sludging...

when was the last time you changed the oil? Also do you use Part synthetic or Mineral?

I did change the oil, and used a good quality Castrol semi-synthetic. I did notice though, that the level was down. I refilled the engine and ran the engine. The light has remained out. I am a bit confused though, where is the oil going if there are no visible leaks, no oil in the water, and the engine does not burn oil???
