Hi there.

New to the forum. Looking for a Rav4. Had a good hunt around and can't see a buying tips/what to watch out for thread, so here is the question.

Close to buying a 1999 T Reg'd model. 2 litre automatic. What should I be paying especially close attention to? (above and beyond the normal things to look for when buying a car).

When does the cambelt need doing on these engines?

Are there any thins to look/listen in the transmission? (diff, gearbox etc.)

Thanks for any hints.

T/.

Is everyone a lurker and not a poster on here? Someone must have some hints & tips.

Or maybe, since they're Toyota's they don't go wrong?

Welcome to the club Trefor.

Bothy seems to be the one who can best advise on these (although there are others). There was a post not long ago asking the same question. Just go back a few topics, you'll find it.
