Bare with me while i sort this all out :D

Hi there mr2oc peeps well where do i start, ive had this mr2 since i was 16 am now 19, its always been a dream to try and make it into a show car. :D

I am currently studying car mechanics so working on the mr2 is great to learn from!!! ;)

Anyway last year i had done alot of work to it got all the sills replaced got it undersealed done by myself and got arches done etc etc

So this year i carry on, got loads of engine mods and other outside mods im going to do but you have to watch this thread and find out :)

Tax ran out end of march so was the ideal time to start project

Starting:

Mr2gettingstarted.jpg

mr2feelingsorryforitself.jpg

So first of i decided to start stripping the interior as it was a bit shabby and looking abit boring as i get bored quickly

interiorsprayedbefore.jpg

It was like this but was all scratched due to rubbish paint

Progress

Interiorlookingstrippedanddirty.jpg

So all stripped out now and car looking bare, notice Rhons Handy work with the gear knob and gaiters! Thanks Rhon :th:

interiornewcolour.jpg

tiral2.jpg

Just a trial for now as i dont want to finish all the spraying as im going to change the blue interior inside, but gives you the idea of colour

Anyway more of that to continue at a later date and due to crap weather its kept me on hold!! watch this space!!!

Engine

So i start on the engine, before when it was sort of clean but was completely dirty and got bored

Pictures of when it was clean

Engineclean.jpg

Here i start stripping the engine first off comes the manifold heatshield and air filter and intake etc etc

enginerebuilding.jpg

Battered heatshield

batteredheatshieldfromengine-1.jpg

Ordered a new heatshield but nothing that Poohbears work cant solve

poohbearmanifoldcover.jpg

I then start stripping the engine more and take the inlet manifold and the acis off, also the cam cover with the rubbish screw type things holding it on

nice rounded nuts and bolts holding me up so out comes the wd40 and the hammer to get the bugger off, left the nuts and bolts soaking in gunk, although will order more

Start sanding down the acis starting from 240 grit and work my way up

acismirroreffect.jpg

aciss.jpg

Just waiting on more belgum alu and autosol but is getting there

acisportin.jpg

aciswithbutterflysnearlycomplete-1.jpg

acisnearlythere.jpg

Cleaned up all the acis took off all the old gasket and polished all the inside of the acis and slighly ported the holes to allow more free flowing air

Next thing i work on the strut brace again sanded it all down from 240 grit to 1500 grit

strutbracespolishedup.jpg

Next was port and polish the inlet to make it more free flowing, not finished yet so more progress to come also starting the throttle body

inletportedanpolished.jpg

Wiped the bootlid over briefly to this

Picture1447.jpg

Also side panels

Picture1448.jpg

There was my rust patch, rubbed it down

Picture1449.jpg

Rain came over so had to get car cover out just shoved it over boot and put side panels back on loose so my boot didnt get soaked

Picture1450.jpg

My mess

Picture1451.jpg

Thats it for now untill maybe later on

Just a quick question am i right saying that 043 super white doesnt need a laquer, what happens once i spray it over just rub in down with rubbing compound and buff it up?

Cheers
