Exhaust Emissions Fail

just fail mot on emissions .mot tester was no help at all .5 times limit .cat is no good now do not want to replace until problem is solved .a little blue smoke on start up.but running fine .it is a 1995 model high mileage. exhaust smells strong off petrol any help would be grateful thanx

I had the same prob with my 'k reg 1.6 petrol, the garage put a bottle of something in the engine

to reduce emissions but i can't remember what it was called.

Taking the wifes car for mot tomorrow so i will ask and get back to you.

And if it's diesel drain the tank and put veggie oil in then you won't have any emisions

The bottle of engine flush is called FORTE cost's about a tenner, it gets rid of all the waxy and burn deposits

that build up over time, it helped in getting mine through it's mot and it can't do any harm. :)
