I know that normally when changing the oil on a car you grab some Mobil 1 or some other good named oil.

But i've been told until 6000 miles i should use Mineral oil and not Synthetic?

Anyone know why?

Mineral oil will not give the protection level of synthetic, which sounds a bad thing but it'll let your engine components "bed" in better. I'll ring the technical dept of our oil supplier on monday if you want? I'm sure they can explain it better than me :thumbsup:

i used mineral for the first oil change at 1500miles and then at 5000miles i switched to toyota synthec(mobile1)

From what I understand if your engine is used to mineral then it shouldnt be run on Synthetic at least not straight away.

I used to find in my Primera that Semi worked well.
