Brake Job ?

We lease a 2003 Sequoia 4X4 with 17,000 miles on it. Two of the dash board lights [VAS TRAC] went on and we took the car into the Toyota dealer

We were informed that we needed front brakes, as only 10% of the pads were remaining. We were also told that the brake fluid was "low". This vehicle has only been serviced by Toyota.

Between 1991 & 2003 we leased 6 Ford Explorers, V-8. The vehicles were returned at the end of the lease with between 37,000 to 40,000 miles. There was never a problem with the brake pads on these Explorers.

Our driving habilts have not changed.

Is it normal for a Sequoia to need new front brakes at 17,000 miles? According to the service rep, the rear brakes have about 33% left. :(

Any information would be sincerly appreciated.
