Heat Shields

As a reply to your PM I'll post on here J in case it can be of use to anyone else ;)

I have heard some people run without these shields with no real problem and apart from the obvious places like Mr T and used parts centres (scrap yards to you and me ;) ), they will be the only place to get them.

Is the one at the top missing or just rusty on yours?

I took mine off and tidied it up but I must admit the four bolts can be a pain as they rust up and might need drilling out.

The ones below have come loose on mine and after a temporary repair with clips, they have now started rattling again, when I get my exhaust done tomorrow I will probably get them taken off and leave them that way.

Thanks for your reply Les.

The heat shield at the top is rusty, when i changed my cat converter a couple of weeks ago the heat shield was pretty much wrecked trying to get it off, bolts were rusted on and needed drilled out.

The bottom one is worse and can't be repaired at all.

Had a wander around a scrap yard the other day, will go back and get the heat shield, its in better condition than mine - i just though i might be able to get a new one at a decent price lol

Cheers,

J
