Which Engine Oil - 2006 2.2 Diesel

Hi Guys,

I need to top up the engine oil on Corolla Verso 2.2 diesel, 06 plate. I'm wondering what oil to use. I looked in the handbook, and it had different oil types for different engine codes, but I didn't know the engine code of my car - how do I find this out?

I looked on Halfords website and they have a bit where you can put your reg no in and it recommends suitable oils. It came up with stuff like:

Castrol Magnatec 5W30 (synthetic)

Halfords 5W/30 Part Synthetic

Castrol Edge 0W-30 (synthetic)

Mobil 1 0W/40 (synthetic)

Would any of these be OK? Should I get synthetic or part synthetic?

5W 30 Semi-Synthetic is perfectly acceptable, AND cheaper than fully synthetic which is not a requirement

Choose a quality brand though

What they should say is, put your Reg number in and we will extract as much money as we can from you
