First, thanks to all of you guys who replied to my earlier thread(s). Cannot get a confirmation of a timing belt change (despite FSH) so am going to get it done as a precaution. Would you have any reccomendations for a local gaage in the Newcastle upon Tyne area for this or is it a dealer job?

To Phil_m,

If opting for cambelt change i would change water-pump at the same time, a bit more money for parts & labour. But i have seen many many D4D engines knock out the water-pump very soon after belt change due to nice new tight belt killing old high milage water- pump. Water-pump about £100 inc VAT, if having work done in Toyota garage see if you can get a bit of discount on Parts & Labour. Cannot help out with Newcastle area, bit of a trek from my place.

Regards, Beagh.
