Cambelt Question

Is the D4-D an interfernce engine or not.? Asking because I have just read that Toyota use chains on the interference engines and belts on the non interference.

I have a 54 plate D4-D and was led to believe it to be an interference engine but it has a belt?

I don't think there is a diesel available that isn't interference. As for the belt, not sure when they changed to chain but if you search the forums you should find the info.

Tp Phil_M,

Your car has an interference engine & is cambelt driven. You can verify this via your vehicle logbook engine designation ie: 1CD-FTV.

Regards, Beagh.
