How To Buy A Jdm 1mz-fe For My Avalon?

Hi guys. I've done some reading here and this is a great forum.

My 98 Avalon threw a rod and I'm looking for a 1mz-fe from japan. I have absolutely no mechanical skills or knowledge at all. I've got a guy that will put the engine in for me, but I've got to find it myself. Now I've done the google searches and eBay searches and there are enough of these motors around, but I'm worried that I'll buy one that will end up not being right. Are there different versions of this motor, or if I buy one out of a camry will it drop right into my avalon exactly? How can I make sure that I get one that will drop right in?

Welcome to TOC. The Avalon was never sold in the UK (where this forum is based). You would probably get a better response from the USA section here
