When tuned correctly, they will offer better throttle response and in my case, better low end torque and a little boost in power and torque throughout the rev range. Other systems like those on my Blue Top engine however are designed to improve outright power at the very top end.

The advantage with ITB's is that you can tune each individual cylinder to its own specific trim in terms of fuelling and airflow - you won't find one cylinder starved of air whilst another is running too lean due to too much air.

RTV and Oil arrived today but no sealant gun so I didn't bother with the sump - I just went and did the oil change. Oil pressure is now a little higher so I'll be happy enough with that.

Gave her a grand clean up on the outside and fitted my MCM sticker too! :D

Well look, I'm a bit old fashioned.......a bit old in fact and while it doesn't exactly suite me, I can't help but admire just how tenacious you have been with this project. With over 7k posts, a club contributor and a supporter I think its high time we dished out some stars!

Keep up the good work buddy - I hope that exhaust isn't too loud!!!

Thank you very much mate :) I had an awful lot of more experienced voices harping in my ear about it not being worth the money, time and effort, however it was very clear to me that they simply didn't and never could understand my motives.

This car has sent me through the best and worst times, often simultaneously, but it definitely isn't going anywhere.

Cheers for the stars :D and the exhaust is just perfect ;) a low burble on idle but not farting, a harsh bark under acceleration, engine takes over at 4400RPMm (where engine noise is nicest too!) and then it's silent when cruising. Love it to bits. At flat chat it is rather loud though I cannot lie! The exhaust was fitted mostly for longevity and price - the Toyota exhaust won't last long but costs near enough £1k, the Ashley doesn't fit properly and is mild steel, yet this is full SS and costed £350 with a lifetime warranty. Fits perfectly as Toyota intended and won't ever rust. Bang on!

I have some pretty damn good news, I sent her through for an MOT and she passed with flying colours! :D

On her way back home now for the summer. Will be getting a brake kit though as she almost failed on these... in fact she failed and then a second test did well enough. Surprising seeing as all the callipers are new, with new pads, discs and braided lines. The only thing I can think of is the master cylinder is still shot. £375 isn't a good move so I think I'm going to fit a big brake kit when I get the money in.

I need to reposition the front brake lines and get the brake power up but other than that she's doing fine. The front brakes were locking up overpowering the machine!

Well it really has been a time since updating this thread! Who would've thought!

The GTi has been completely trouble-free - no issues getting to and from JAE and as a celebration of its reliability and near-completion I decided to sort out one of the things that had been bugging me for quite some time.

I finally got a new steering wheel to bring it back to a more Jap look:

And my two together -

Loner Shot

WP_20130914_007_zpsf08d1c62.jpg

And as another neat touch I purchased some fender bolts:

I'll be changing the red MOMO pedals for the same design but black instead of red, and I'll go about replacing a lot of the bolts in the engine bay with the nice fender bolts as they're pretty tidy up close!

In light of the oil pump failing and trashing this engine, I am now performing a 2ZZ-GE conversion. I have started chatting to a mate of mine about the ECU and harness.

This summer I will get to work removing the old engine and cutting the mounts out. I will also be reinforcing the sub-frame and front section of the chassis to accept the new engine.

Overall I will be buying an entire Corolla T-Sport and ripping bits off it as and when I need them smile.png

This will be epic!
