Hi all from new recruit ...

Just bought an Avensis 1.8 vvti Estate + so far pretty pleased but trying to get my head round a/c vent. system during this cold weather. Tried various options with help of handbook but can't get rear side windows to demist,

Also the rear window only sems to de mist halfway when switched on ( bottom half ) Is this normall or do I have a fault ?

Cheers

Welcome new recruit!!

Ideally, you should have the facial vents closed, and all air directed to the front screen, cause it has small side window vents combined and obviously you want to be blowing warm air with the fan in motion at all times to prevent re-misting.

Another good thing is the air conditioning itself. Although it is designed for cooling, it also dries the air coming into the car therefore making it very efficient for fast demisting. I can demist the whole car (without the electric heated rear screen) in minutes with AC on.

Another tip, is don't set the system on recirculate. Have fresh air from outside blown in.

Regarding the heated rear screen, this should demist fairly evenly localised around each heat strip. But this can obviously depent on how evenly the window is misted up.

Any help?

Stu

Thanks Stu for speedy reply - will give your suggestions a try. Not sure about recirculation button. It looks from the handbook like it is a double function one with the air intake ....( right hand side to a/c one) but I 'm not sure what is happening when this on ?

Pardon my ignorance ..... old car was a Cavalier & I'm not used to all these refinements . Nice tho !
