Update On Steering Rattle

Any advice welcomed?

Following a rattle from the steering column and learning that my car was subject to a VOSA safety defect recall in 2007. Following Mr T inspection they confirmed that the securing Bolt keeps working loose (funny that cos if you read the VOSA safety defect recall notice it states in the description

It is possible that the connections at the intermediate shaft and sliding yoke of the steering column may become loose and if the symptoms are ignored steering control can be lost. .

With the severity of the matter Mr T advised that after several attempts to tighten the bolt it now wouldn’t tighten.... thanx.

With only 2000 miles covered during the 1 year warranty period and 7ooo miles over the 20 month since the replacement was carried out I felt that customer services had a case to answer, but to no avail. So they condemned my car as unfit to drive cos they couldn’t tighten the bolt, there and then and I was over 200 quid lighter in 45 mins..... Thanx again My T

Any advice on how to fight Toyota for a refund is appreciated. I have been advised that I should state that that the modification to the part should enable the part to have a reasonable life, and that the loosening is one that should not have happened at this or any stage in the products life.

Please advise
