Help Please :d What Wire To Connect My Ipod?

Hiya everyone!

I know to some this will sound like a ridiculously simple question haha, but I use the excuse that I am a new driver with a terrible head for technology! What type of wire do I need to connect my ipod nano to my car and where can I buy it please?? I have been to Halfords and asked a member of staff who gave me a wire that was 'supposed' to fit. However, it was far to big for the socket! Took it back and they had no idea what to give me so I gave up!

You need a docking port to 3.5mm jack plug.

What kind of iPod is it? Second-generation iPod Touch's and iPhone 3G's have a chip in the socket so older cables don't work- double check if that's the case.

You can always just use a 3.5mm male to male cable.

im using a 3.5mm aux male to male jack to connect my iPhone 3g

Depending on the ipod 3.5mm-3.5mm may not work properly as it won't use the line out channel.
