Verso Problems!

Have run a T180 from new on a 55 plate still only 68k miles, regularly Toyota dealer serviced and in the last 12 months it has become the worst car I have ever owned including an Escort made by welding 2 halves together in the middle. Endless problems with engine warning lights & TRC failure which took the dealer multiple visits to finally diagnose as needing a new catalytic converter. Limp home mode isn't much use with steep hills around.

Strange noises on full lock meant a new steering rack, new discs at the same time. Minor point but fuel gauge is a joke, half full to warning light in 30 miles!

Latest problem is gearbox, won't stay in 5th, 6th difficult to engage and 2nd makes a noise like a washing machine full of spanners, so looks like a new gearbox is next on the list.

Thank God it's on a lease with maintenance or I'd be thousands out of pocket. Lease expires in January & will be so happy to get rid of this pile of cr*p and buy a decent car - certainly not another Toyota.

How interesting. I live in France and bought a new Verso Clean Power, a T180 in the UK, in Feb 2007. Last Friday, with just 70k kms on the clock, most on long journeys to the UK, a number of the lights came on, including TRC. We limped to our local dealer, some 40kms, who almost immediately diagnosed a new cat and an injector. Cost over 1000 Euros and 10 days to get the parts!! Luckily we decided to purchase an extra 2 years of full guarentee but even so no offer of a replacement car. Luckily a mechanic lived near us and brought us home otherwise it appeared that we would be left to our own devices. Up until then the car had been perfect, regularly serviced and a joy to drive. I am now concerned that this is the start of further problems, especially after reading your post.

First impressions not great. Just bought a 06/63k T180. I've only managed to do 67 miles so far. P2002 error code and £2743 bill for cat replacement. New Battery required for ECU upgrade. Roadtest then highlights that the head gasket is knackered too - £2000+ bill on the way. Not the start I was hoping for as it has full Toyota Service History, 1 owner and 11 months MOT. Still, I haven't paid a penny for all these faults so far... Here's hoping that things get better.
