Hi i just picked up a g reg mr2 (mk2) which still had the standard radio cassette player in place. I picked up a new alpine cd/ipod unit and went to Halfords to buy the new wiring harness to install it. After pulling half the dash apart and removing the old unit and getting ready to bolt in the new unit i find that the harness i was sold is the wrong one !! the car only requires one connection but the one i was sold has 2 !! i double check in store and was assured it was the correct one for this car but obviously not. Does anyone know the correct part no. for the adaptor ??? any help would be much appreciated cheers paul

Welcome,

Sorry, don't know the part number, but there are two different systems in the MR2 - the active (with amplified Speakers in the boxes behind the rear seats) and passive (without those). Most installers seem to know this.

I would suspect your car has the passive system. If you do a search in the MR2 thread you'll find info on the connectors.

Or perhaps someone else will know the correct part? I have a lead kicking about somewhere, but I think it's the one you already have.

thank you for the reply ! managed to source the correct lead today from a local audio shop, turns out i have the amplified system so unit is now installed correctly and the insides of the car have been put back together. When im on my days off i will say hi properly and get some pics of the car up.
