2004 Engine - Pre Cats

I have replaced my engine with a 2004 model, after my original 2000 engine failed with huge oil loss then precats sucked or blown somewhere etc etc.

Is it worth while taking out the precats on the new engine?

I am assuming my car has the modified pistons because until recently (at 70,000 miles) I still ran with the original pre-cats, never used a drop of oil and it ran like a dream.

I have ALWAYS checked my oil on a regular basis and NEVER pushed the engine until it was warm.

I recently fitted a Che header which eliminates the pre-cats but having said that I still have the old manifold with the pre-cats in perfect condition and recantly (at nearly 80,000 miles) did THIS ;) .

Pre-cats DO NOT destroy engines, oval bore syndrome caused by the gunging up of piston oilways leading to lack of cylinder lubrication IS the cause of these failures, this in turn will cause the break up of pre-cats which by the time this is noticed is to late.

So if you have a proven history of the engine fitted and you take on board the checking of oil and "get warm" before thrashing advice, you should have no worries ;)
