Honest John in his Saturday Telegraph column says that a 2WD on winter tyres is better than a 4WD on non winter tyres. Is that really so?

hi guys i need help!! im currently doing a comprehensive restoration on my toyota 1000 and the project is well under way! i know its never goin to be easy to find body panels ect for the little runner but i need rubbers, mainly the windscreen rubber and rear screen rubber. i cannot remove them untill i know i can get new ones. does anyone know where they can be sourced or is there any reliable companies who can fabricate new ones? cheers
