  1. Sounds like the block is knackered, BMW 6 cyl engines suffer from this once engine has overheated the block has lost its mechanical integrity. The mechanic may have been careless but I doubt it. Being in the taxi trade I have heard about and seen lots of toyotas scrapping blocks because of overheating. If it was me I would buy an engine from a good engine rebuilder and fit that, I suspect that the rest of the threads will be weak and fail after a short time. Taxijim

  2. Most of those models ARE Fleet deals and not retail, they account for a huge part of Vauxhall, Ford and VW sales. They also offer huge discounts to friends and family of workers from the factories Kingo

  3. Hi All, Now an official member of the Auris Club! I've attached a few pics of the beast, one at the dealer before I drove off (I was excited) and two basic shots when I got home. I was gonna take it out for a ride into the country and get off some better pics but it started to rain so I gave up on that idea. It's a 2008 SR180 with 38k on the clock and full toyota dealer history. I've had quite a few fast diesels in my time... a Hybrid Turbo Fabia vRS that ran 240bhp, a remapped Astra CDTi Sporthatch (184bhp proven), a Citroen C2 VTS HDi (137bhp proven after remap). And a couple of not so fast... Escort 1.8 TD (GTi Replica) with uprated fueling that ran a smokey 100bhp, and after than a 306 1.9 DTurbo with uprated fueling that saw 112bhp (GTi-6 replica). Had a few fast petrols as well in the shape of a 306 GTi-6 and a 306 Rallye (I like 306s...), an Escort MK6 RS2000 4x4, and a Golf VR6 Highline (In Purple!!!) (Had it for a week and hated it and sold it to a mate for a £100 profit!!) Never had anything Japanese before, but I'm expecting 100% reliability!!! I've had some modded cars in the past and tbh I'm not gonna go crazy with this one. I'm gonna debadge it mostly, just leaving the SR180 badge and loose the rest (Why do I need a D-CAT badge under my indicators?), spray my brake calipers red (I've got some paint left over from an old car so it's a free mod) and... well that's about it. I want to get a spare wheel (I HATE "get home foam"). Cheers all.

  5. My brother has an old Defender, which he bought in a bad way and has been steadily restoring. Just had the paintwork done... A couple of days later and the prop shaft shears.... Now before you laugh and sneer, consider this. If that happened on a Rav, how would it cost to repair? You'd need to remortgage your house! It cost him £60 - job done! That's the beauty of the older Landys, they are basically a 1:1 mechano set. I have to be honest (and don't throw me out for this), I love it! It's fun to drive - especially offroad. Would I have one, damn right.
