  3. Not that many German Car Manufacturers prepared to give a 5 or 7 year Manufacturers Warranty. (They will sell you an extra year or 2.) Or even Makers that are part of German Car Groups, like VAG. Maybe why some Far Eastern Car Manufacturers try to get out of the Take Overs that the German Companies did in the past. An example being Suzuki & VAG. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15867168 'If only everything in life was as reliable as a Golf', Only they are not, but the Advertising is good. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/consumer-news/62383/german-cars-among-worst-engine-failures Volkswagen reputation in Australia, China,Japan etc is really bad now because of various failures, like DSG boxes, which they have been made to recall, modify and extend warranties on of 100,000 miles. The Engines, Gearboxes and even the vehicles might well be Built in the Far East, Asia etc plants, But surely thats German Engineering and Production, and specifications. Lots of German Engines/Vehicles are now built in South America and elsewhere around the world, Central and Eastern Europe but not Germany. Maybe they get better Quality Control from there as well as cheep labour costs. I like the reliability and engineering quality from my Suzuki's that are built in Hungary & my Skoda from CZ, but many are sadly let down by the parts shared with VW & Audi.. george

  4. Manufacture (of the bolt) fault, causing the head to sheer off? Under Torqued, bolt came loose? Over Torqued causing the head to sheer off? Also.......possibly....Removed previously, torqued bolt now stretched, when refitted it was not actually tight when torqued. It happens quite often on bolts that have a high torque, those bolts should be replaced if removed, flywheel and cylinder head bolts suffer the same way Kingo

  5. Thanks, I haven't checked that because I assumed there would be brackets. It would be nice if it turns out to be that simple. Just been out and checked, it will need three brackets to hold them. I would like to get the right ones from Berman, so any details of where in the UK stock their stuff would be great.

  7. Hello Steve, I've had an Auris with the 1.4D4D engine for over two years and 75k miles now. Your right about the regeneration happening about 300 miles, and as you say, you can tell it's doing it because of the smell and the drop in instantaneous MPG,also the idle speed increases to about 950rpm, it seems to take about 10 miles to complete, if you turn the engine off during it, it seems to have to wait a while then start again. I've also found that it can seem to want to regenerate more often if your a steady driver, or if you do lots of long 60/65MPH runs, as I do, then what I do is wait until it's doing a regeneration, then drive it with plenty of revs in a lower gear then normal for a few miles, but make sure it's safe to do so, this seems to blow the DPF out and it go's back to regenerating every 300 miles or so. By the way, when I first noticed the increased idle speed I talked to my local Toyota Garage about it and they did not know what I was talking about, so I presume it's something that not many owners have asked about. Good article by the AA here: http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuels-and-environment/diesel-particulate-filters.html

  8. Better to try and keep it in the tank for as long as possible so BG say... After you've got half a tank of derv then top up to full with more derv...

  9. Speed-chaser - a very worthwhile upgrade there. I normally use HEL hoses but they don't offer a kit for the Auris. I presume that's why you had the Goodridge's made up ? Makes a great difference to pedal feel & gives a much more direct response.

  10. Any chance of adding blue. I'm so fed up of cars that are white, black or any shade between that I refused to get an IQ unless it had a colour.
