  1. I have just noticed this so a bit late. This site will convert a location to a number of different formats in degrees/minutes/seconds and it uses OS maps. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/

  2. Just a thought there are two switches that disable the cruise A "release to break" on the clutch and a "release to break" on the brake switch. The brake switch usually has two switches built inside one body with 4 pins. Two for the "release to make" for the brake lights and the other two are for the "release to break" cruise. The reason for using "release to break" is a fault condition fails open/safe ie cruise off.

  3. If you have had work done as a result of an accident I guess it could be a range of possilbilities but check to make sure all earthing points are secure and making good contact, especially battery and engine.

  5. Doubt whether this would be written off. I would be inclined to get the work done by a Toyota bodyshop however, to ensure the repairs are of a sufficient standard not to affect the Toyota corrosion warranty. The insurer will probably want you to use their approved repairer, but as far as I'm aware, they cannot insist you do. The Toyota bodyshop would probably provide a courtesy car whilst your is being repaired - but check with them. The third party's insurer, if they accept responsibilty, may offer to repair your car. This happened to me when a third party ran into the back of a Mazda I had. I chose the repairer and the third party insurer paid for a hire car for the duration of repairs. The accident still needs to be reported to your own insurer. If the damage is more extensive than it looks and the car is written off, most insurers have a clause where they replace your car with a new one if written off in the first 12 months - check your policy.

  6. From your photographs I would say it is highly unlikely that the car is a write off. A few days in a good bodyshop and it will look like new again. For information on what you should do visit www.honestjohn.co.uk Regards Geoff Peace.

  7. I forgot to mention that the deal was an engagement ring or a car, she chose the car. The Prius is our 16th car. We have been married for 48 years.

  9. I cannot remember the figure for insurance but in 1963 we bought a car (a 1934 Hillman Minx), paid for insurance, eight lessons and the test for £50. http://www.flickr.com/photos/norwichhouse-oakridge/4476114618/in/set-72157622367220088

  11. Nice car. As regards the service plan, has the dealer given you any detail on what is included, or does the quote just state the number of services and when each is due? Have a look at the Toyota website, under, owners' and 'servicing'. An outline of Toyota's Fixed Price Service scheme is given. Two intermediate services for the Verso., and one full service will cost £547 - so the quote isn't far off the mark. However has a brake fluid change at 2 years been included (£39)? You can use the Fixed Price Service costs as a negotiating tool - even if the dealer doesn't participate in the scheme, you can still use the costs to negotiate.

  12. Unless you're happy with spending thousands of pounds on the custom route I wouldn't bother. To get the best from a turbo set-up you'd be looking at a better exhaust, intake, manifold, sports cat, intercooler, piggy-back ECU for fuelling adjustments & bigger fuel injectors. Not to mention a lot of time spent setting all this up on the dyno & the custom mounting plates. Trust me - I've been there !

  13. Cannot remember what my first insurance cost - but my first salary was £921 per annum, so my first insurance couldn't have been too much.

  14. My first car was an escort mark 1 1300 E which at 21 cost me more than the car to insure. On reflection not my finest hour but boy could it move...
