  2. Have locked the topic, as for the last two pages discussion has gone totally away from the original subject. As far as I'm aware, any banning of members has been for other reasons than any fallout between forum members, and has not been carried out by any one moderator.

  3. ...........which would border on the criminally shameful that such an excellent forum should be brought to its knees by the self importance of one Wee Man. I will not advertise the other forum.........that would be unfair, AND I TOTALLY QUESTION THE INTEGRITY OF THE PM SECTION HEREON.............

  4. Kenneth, I assumed you did not get the D tab base in the kit. Just the mirror alone. When you get this tab, check there is room to slide the mirror in place. Don't stick it without testing! I still think the old base be removed so the new mirror is in the ideal place. Konrad Yeah, now that I know it's included it makes it quite a bit easier. I'll of course make sure that the mirror has enough room to slide in before installing the tab, but thanks for the reminder anyway :). Removing the old base is probably ideal, but if there's any risk at all of the windscreen breaking I won't risk it (if that's what the pro's say). Do you know if the tab has to be installed in the dotted area of the windscreen?

  7. You could consider keeping your existing head unit and installing either Xcarlink or Connects2. Have a search of the forums for either.

  8. Sometimes a small amount will burn through and it wont make much difference. Other times it can be very costly. Id recommend you change the diesel filter, keep topping up the tank with diesel to keep the petrol diluted and get the errors checked on a diagnostic machine. That'll tell you where to start at least.

  9. It should have done the trick my friend if he used an easibleed type kit on it. If the pressure bleeding alone does not work (i.e. the brake pedal remains 'spongy'). Try pressing the brake pedal while the pressure bleeding is in operation (i.e. carry out pressure bleeding and conventional bleeding simultaneously). You only need about 20psi to carry out the bleed so the tyre should have been adequate pressure wise.

  10. Mistermena had the same problem with his gearbox. He said it was awful trying to get it into 1st when cold and always crunched into 2nd until the box oil warmed up. He changed the oil to a straight 75w grade oil called Silkolen Pro SRG double ester oil and it made a World of difference to these triple synco boxes...

  11. The Mrs did that 2 weeks ago to our Grand Voyager 2.8L XS oil burner! She put 20 squid of V-Power petrol in! Cost £215 for RAC to pump it out plus the £180 of fuel! A very Happy Christmas!!! Not :(

  12. diesel is a natural lubricant so by adding petrol the lubrication has been taken away so anything on the fuel system side could be damaged from the fuel pump through to injectors.i think an inspection is required.

  13. Hi and seasons greetings, Following a tank of fuel with the cat cleaner and then a tank with a decent injector cleaner then normal use ( 25 quids worth of fuel each week)I have averaged a worst of 32MPG and over the last two fills 37MPG for each. Bearing in mind what has been said in this thread I think that is reasonable enough and an improvement. I gave the car an oil change last week and ordered new plug leads which arrived yesterday so they will go on as the leads on look to be Toyota ones, could they really be the original ones still working 15 years on ? Well they will be changed very soon and I shall continue to try to refill at the same point on the gauge and noting the mileage on the receipt. Hoping to break 40MPG. Lets see.

  14. Hi i hope it is not too late, i have another solution which is quiet cheap, if it is just burning CD's which is getting to you, then for £40 you can purchase a YATOUR Audio device, (5+7 pin), it plugs directly into the back of your original factory head unit, and allows you to connect aux, usb and SD cards, and there is an optional bluetooth module that you can purchase for another £40? or so, not too sure, that will allow you to pair your phones etc. I purchased mine off amazon and works excellently, needed fitting into the glove box but it purely plug and play.

  15. I've had a Pioneer double din fitted to my Auris and it has transformed the audio experience. Bluetooth was a feature of the head unit so nothing needed to be done other than mount the microphone. A big benefit I found was that the head unit could be bolted into place using the existing fittings and doing away with the rather unsecure clips that are usually used. Facia kits are easily available and Halfords should be able to source that for you. Also, I was amazed at the sound coming from the stock speakers which, to my mind underperform massively with the original head unit. I had mine fitted by a mobile fitter and it just about fell in so don't expect any problems there. You might also want to think about a stalk adapter for the Auris as this allows use of the steering wheel controls as per the original. Enjoy

  16. Hi. I am new to this forum, an this is my first post. Im from Norway, so please forgive my mispelling. I know that this is an old tread, but im still hoping to get an answer. I have a massive loss of engine power, an engine fault lamp is on. (2005 mod Raw4 2.0 D4D with short milage.) Had exactly same sympoms last year, and when the dealer replaced the scv valve, the engine operated fine. Now the problem is back, and im suspecting the vsv. I downloaded and tested acording to "test vsv" when disconnected , It says that air should NOT flow between E and G, i s this correct? mine have free flow between these ports, and when connected to battery, it opens from E to the filter. Help, anyone?
