  1. Good afternoon ya'll, Hope everyone is driving smoothly. Is it just me or is there something wrong. I went on holidays drove a brand new ford focus super soft steering and clutch, came back my clutch and steering feel a lot harder than i can remember. I know people might say on yeah thats coz you have forgotten your old pal. But I swear its harder than it should be. Could it be that sitting the car for a long time cause the clutch to go harder????? does it need a change of fluid ( I imagine not as the car was thoroughly serviced every year when i bought it 1.5 years ago its an avensis 1.8 vvti gs OIL BURNER - Yeah I know please dont laugh it hurts) Would appreciate all the feed back. Ta muchly. Waqar

  2. Have checked as per your suggestion turning on the air-con pump to notice the noise almost gone! Come to think of it, she had said the air conditioning doesnt work, despite it being recently recharged. Cheers for the part numbers too! They will come in handy sometime soon i should think. Owner of the car not too fussed about it at the moment, but im sure she will be if it gets worse. Thanks again!

  3. I'm currently running on Uniroyal Rainsport 2's and I can confirm they are a bit noisy, which gets worse when off straight (they get louder on sweeping motorway corners), but I live in the north of England and if we see a big yellow ball in the sky up here we tend to think it's an alien invasion so I'm happy to put up with the noise 'cos they grip like it's dry in the wet. ;-)

  4. As regards the rear lights you could either replace the gasket or use some neutral sealant - see http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/157769-tail-light-gasket/?hl=%20rear%20%20light%20%20seals

  5. Hi Waqar, I will tell you what code 21 is, and how it can be done on pre vvti cars made before 2001. You car is EOBD compliant, so can use EOBD/OBD2 fault code readers. The 7A-FE, 4A-FE & 3S-FE engine are not EOBD compliant so cannot use the readers. What can be done is the 'paperclip' test. I use a copper wire to link terminal 4 and terminal 13 on the OBD socket. Then turn the key ignition. What happens is the EML, ABS and SRS will flash. In the case of the EML with the O2 sensor fault, it will flash twice, short pause then flash once. There will be a much longer pause then repeat the flash sequence. This is fault code 21. I have added the following pictures:- I recorded the flashes, but need to upload the video later so you can see what is happening. When we next meet, I will show you how the test is done. You can do the same test but only the ABS and SRS will flash. The best thing is that it practically free and saves on buying a reader that would not work on pre 2001/non vvti cars anyway. Konrad
