  2. Problem solved. For those of you who don't know (I didn't), when doing the rear brakes there is a tool you can buy of amazon for £20 that allows you to push the piston back in while turning it at the same time. Tool was called Universal Brake Caliper Piston Rewind Wind Back I'd done loads of front brakes and rear shoes before but never rear pads. The tool has loads of attachments that will fit most rear brakes. Point to note though. When putting the caliper back on make sure the cut out on the piston lines up with the nodule on the back of the pad. Looks like at some point in the past some numpty didn't and messed up the disks! (probably highly paid toyota garage numpty as the previous owner had service book stamped at toyota garage!)

  3. Like all insurance it's something you hope you never need. For my wife's safety and peace of mind I have had some form of cover for many years, too many to remember how long. I used it once (not Toyota) at least 28 years ago to get a motor caravan home over a distance of about 25 miles. Fixed the fault later myself. I have had the Toyota Assistance since buying my Avensis in 2012. I have used it once at home a few weeks ago, flat battery due to me leaving an interior light on seemingly, the AA arrived within 30 minutes of the call, very courteous engineer who checked the battery state and charging system before leaving. It's been fine since. The Toyota service also gives European cover too. So over the years I have clearly paid more out more than I have reaped. However am not willing to take the risk of being miles away in the middle of nowhere and needing help.

  4. You lucky lot, ordered my pearl white Auris Excel nearly 3 weeks ago with pan roof and ice grey leather. Should have been in last Monday but has now been put back to this coming Tuesday?? Traded in a 2 1/2 year Aygo Fire, we have let the dealer have the Aygo and they have loaned us an Auris hybrid until ours is ready, it is my first hybrid, so at least we get to practice with the loan one until we pick ours up.

  5. I once fitted a bicycle brake cable to a Laguna window, which worked a treat. Maybe worth considering if it's possible.

  6. Update. I found a supplier on e-Bay - uad-auto. Brilliant. A brand new pattern part, minus motor, for £27. This was the cheapest new replacement I could find, and much less too than prices I had for s/h OEM's from Breakers. The service was helpful and very efficient, with a prompt turn around; I live in France and the regulator arrived just two days after I placed the order! The part fitted perfectly. Fantastic v.f.m.
