  1. Hello folks, haven't been on here in ages, had mobile and PC problems for ages. Anyway, thought I'd say hello and report that my 52 plate 1.8 vvti passed it's MOT again yesterday. It did need a fair amount in the end. From a complete brake overhaul. Discs n pads all round, a rear caliper but I had to strip the other 3,fit new seals.Get another year out of the pistons by carefully cleaning them with the finest wet n dry and autosol. Also a complete exhaust system from the cat back and a bit of welding to the boot floor. I got them to adjustnthe handbrake n turned out a front spring was cracked so it cost me around £130 but I 'd shudder to think what the garage would have charged to do the work I did myself. I suspect it wouldn't have been cost effective probably more than the cars worth :( Anyway, now it's through, the emmisions figures were pretty good btw, I can start making a plan of attack to wring some useable power out of the vvti motor :)

  2. All uk celicas have discs brakes at the rear, it's only the 140's in the USA that had shoes at the back. Having no rear spoiler isn't odd, the prefacelift 190's didn't have them, mine didn't, but it did have leather seats, unless they were damaged and someone has had them replaced.

  5. As long as you're happy, that's the main thing. One thing to check on the pre face lift 190 and T Sport, is the "lift" bolts. It's highly recommended you change these to the revised/improved type, before they snap. FYI, Toyota call them "Flange Bolts".

  6. Rev counter looks correct, it revs to just over 8k Engine for a 190 is 2zz, so that seems right as you mentioned seats look like they are fabric, don't recall them being available on a 190 model but kev (scarlett arrow) knows more about the models than anyone. some insurance compaines do get them wrong, get a pic of the engine bay, we'll know then

  7. £4k is stupid money for a pre face lift car..even £2k would be optimistic for a 51 plate. From the pics., the car is not a T Sport or a 140. It's a 190 missing the leather seats in the front, and the vinyl seats in the rear. The colour should be "Storm Blue", which looks Black, until the sun brings out the blue fleck in the paint.
