  1. Just thought I'd say I saw a brand new 15 plate Auris Estate Hybrid this morning, a nice 15 plate in a metallic Caffe Latte looking colour with chrome trim round the black insert in the rear bumper. First estate Auris i've seen in hybrid form, very nice looking car. I do like the look of the new Auris, mentioned in the web this morning at the frankfurt motor show ... http://blog.toyota.co.uk/new-toyota-auris-2015-revealed :-)

  2. I bought my Toyota IQ yesterday and have but 3 quarters of a can of BG44k in it already. I decided to do it after the posts by Bob Kneale about it being good for maintaining your engine every now and again. The reason I didn't put the full can in is because the IQ has such a small fuel tank and the BG44k can is designed for all sizes of cars, usually with bigger tanks. Will report back after the tank is depleted letting you know of my results. Tom

  3. GC covered the essentials:- Keep tyres pumped up; Let the car do its thing; Remember that the 12V battery is small; Add to that:- Find out where the jump start points are and how to use them. If you do flatten the 12V battery, there is a right way (and a wrong way) to jump start a Toyota hybrid. Don't run out of petrol. You can't just pop in a couple of litres and drive to the nearest garage to fill up. When it is time to buy new tyres, go for low rolling resistence (aka fuel saver) tyres. The aircon is very fuel efficient. Use it rather than drive around with the windows open. When servicing, check that the dealer will use the correct oil. Not as much of an issue now as it was when the gen3 Prius came out but there might still be the odd dealer who isn't sure. B mode is for additional engine braking on long steep descents. It does not boost the HV battery ;)

  4. Hi Lisa I have just finished a bottle of Redex fuel system and injector cleaner and it has made a difference. Car seems a bit more lively now and the engine seems a bit smoother. Certainly hasn't done any harm anyway. The 1.0 iQ engines did have an issue with the EGR valve and the later models were changed slightly to help the problem. If you have the earlier version there are plenty of posts here about people trying to get replacements but cleaning it and even replacing the valve with a new one of the original design may be worth considering. Sure someone will be along soon to tell you more about the EGR's, I'm not sure my self as I have the 1.33 model and they don't seem so affected. Craig.

  7. Probably not relvant but when my central locking was playing up it was the rubber pad in the key that had the small bosses that actually bear on the microswitches worn so that they were not actuating the switches. A new battery and rubber pad costing all of £4 fixed the problem . There was nothing visual to tell that the fob was not working but the actuating light was not flashing as it should so perhaps I should have realised the problem.
