  1. I don't know if this has been covered elsewhere, but here goes: To change the "splash screen" on the X-Touch unit, first produce an image of your choice in jpeg format, anything you like. I found that a size of 1280x720 pixels worked fine. Name the image whatever you like up to 32 characters - e.g. myscreen.jpg - you can make up to 3 different ones at once. On an EMPTY flash drive, create a folder named "StartupImage" (Case sensitive) - this won't work with any other folder. Save the image(s) into this folder. Put the flash drive into the USB port below the X-touch screen and turn on the ignition to Accessory Press the lower button on the right to bring up the main screen where you will find all the options. Touch "Settings", then "General". Amongst the options is "Customize Startup Image" - touch that, then you see the four available images. The first is the "default" screen, so there are three more available slots. Touch "Transfer" then "Yes", and the image(s) you have prepared will be uploaded from the flash drive. When that has been done, they will be seen in thumbnails on the screen. Select the one you want and touch "OK" Turn off, then on again, and your new screen will be displayed. You don't have to have the flash drive inserted any more - the images will remain in the system. To change them later, just make and save new pictures and go through the process again - they will overwrite the first ones. Attached are the screens I've made for mine!

  4. I normally sit in the inside lane with the speedo indicating 65mph, but I know from having a separate satnav that the actual speed is around 60mph. I believe the slower you go on the motorways the better the mpg, this can be clearly seen when you're stuck in one of those interminable 50mph roadwork zones. You also do better sat behind something big to benefit from the drag, but obviously not too close! I use cruise control when the mway is quiet (rare these days) but I think I get more mpg than the cruise control does. I tend to speed up on the downhill gradients and slow down on the uphill. Prevailing wind seems to make a big difference, but there's not a lot you can do about that! Oh, and about every 4th tank I fill up with super-unleaded, and usually but not always the mpg is better, but not enough to justify the cost, i do it cos someone somewhere said it was a good idea!

  5. Car now sorted it was the cig lighter socket illumination feed wire shorted to live in socket refited and repaired lighter socket, radio now turns off with ignition not side lights. Was a strange one only found it because when I pulled out sat nav plug the socket came out.

  6. I'm a right lane, foot to the floor sort of person and I won't release the motorway speeds I travel at, but I'd still get mid 50's to the gallon. Other than seriously slow start stop and short journey city driving, it is almost impossible to get less than 45 mpg out of a hybrid. You would have to hammer it hard to get less.

  7. In my experience there are companies who can "crack" Denso ECU's but when pressed, cannot actually do it Claims of 56-60 BHP are a crock of dog ploppings Our kit produces plus 70 NM of torque (the important bit for a diesel) and 35 BHP Anyone who makes claims that are unbelievable are quite frankly trying it on, buy a kit from someone who will be in business in the future, not from an internet company / auction site that buy their kits from China and who will be gone next month Kingo

  8. I have access to a 1998 Corolla brochure - which body-wise is the same, apart from the front, as the 2000-on Corolla. Boot capacity of the five door was 372 litres.

  9. Ha! not for me - I have a 3rd party Tyre Pressure Monitoring System that includes the spare, so I can see it's pressure from my seat, and get an audible warning if it gets too low (or high or hot).
