  1. Hi Coprey and welcome to the board. It might not be your turbo that's leaking, it might be coming from the engine breather system. The breather system vents into the turbo air inlet duct. If it's coming out the other side ie the pressure delivery side of the turbo at rest it could be from your turbo but did you get them to clean out your intercooler when they changed the turbo? If it's loaded with oil it can run back out. Does the engine smoke badly or use a lot of oil? Hope not because an engine rebuild is a lot more expensive than a turbo.

  2. At 83k your car is barely run in,my driving school MK 1 d-4d did 223k and was even on it's original CV joints the only weak point is brake light switches they barely last 100k !

  3. The fast charger at Nissan is a chademo and that will continue to charge up to 96% in about an hour, all chargers wether fast or slow will slow down when they near full charge.I usually go into the showroom and have a coffee or two while I wait and carwings sends me an email when it's charged☕️☕️

  4. Yes you can't beat free sparks when it's on offer, home charger takes about 6 hours cost is about £2 depending which tariffs you are on.I have found the leaf forums are not very good the Toyota forum is much better.I had better not continue to post about the leaf on here or Toyota owners club will send the heavy mob round to sort me out

  5. I bought a leaf tekna 2 months ago range is the main issue but I don't do a lot of miles,I pop round to Nissan about once or twice a a week to charge it they are only a couple of miles away from me so no running costs to speak of it makes sense to me.They have a fast charger only takes 1 hour to charge 100% and it's free.I have my own charger at home supplied and fitted by Podpoint cost £199,they also give you a Ecotricity card so you can charge for free at there chargers at the moment.

  7. Could it be counting miles? Maybe not tho, since 450km would be about 275 miles.

  8. You could try something like Mooly has just said as the rubber cover is also part of the top mount assembly and its not possible to replace without stripping the whole spring out. (Do wonder that without that rubber if it will cause any metal to metal knocking over rought ground ?) Would be very cautious about spraying anything onto the damper piston/rod as it might affect the internal seals of the damper. Sounds like you should find a better garage, the rubber cover , as far as I know is not part of the replacement damper or even the spring, and it should have been transfered over from the old assembly, in my book, thats the garages error - and as I know from personal experience - some garages do make mega ***** ups. One thing that always makes me wonder when reading posts like yours, is that why did you have to order the part for the garage to fit ?? Garages have loads of motor factors / suppliers they can buy from, plus thats where they make some of their profit - I just wonder if they let folk supply their own parts, they do so begrudgingly and so do not make a decent job of fitting them ?? Would also suggest you take you car to your local councils mot centre, (where all the local taxis etc have to be tested) They have to give you a proper unbiased test, they cannot do any work on your car or recommend any garage. Used them for many years and though you have to pay the full price of a test, ( about £54) have found its saved me loads of money and time by not being ripped off by such garages like you have unfortunately used.

  9. Many years ago and I had a problem with rear covers disintegrating (Audi A4). I fitted some old Vauxhall Cavalier steering rack gaiters over the struts by simply slitting them end to end with a knife, wrapping it around the strut and securing at the top with a cable tie. 5 minutes works, looked every inch as though they could have been original fitment and were so tough they would have outlasted the car. Maybe you could do similar to the fronts.

  10. Hmmm lol. Erm, I'm slowly testing the boundaries, but I fear our regular trips to the Lakes or Lincoln will be complicated much. I'm used to driving carefully and getting the best mpg's from the Prius and when I drive the Leaf like that it can appear to give amazing range, but then you go up a hill and it suddenly changes from 79 miles remaining to 48, then levels out on the flat and it springs back to 73 and so on. This seems to induce some anxiety, but it is said that you should totally ignore the guess-o-meter and work out your distance yourself from how many range bars you have left. Not ideal and unusual for a Japanese car to do this. Must be Renaults influence!?! We (Mrs Cabbie and I) went for a drive yesterday and set off with 100 miles range exactly. Drove steady for about 40 miles, stuck to speed limits, overtook a slow car, who sped up the *@?*, but I did surprise him with the amazing burst of speed, and arrived with about 58 miles remaining. But the guess-o-meter was up and down and would give anxiety if you were sailing close to the wind. So I'm still testing it. Done loads of miles already though and charged it up for free a couple times - being a Yorkshireman I like that bit. It is said the a/c and heating eats the range and these last few days have needed the a/c big time. I'm hoping to see what effect normal UK weather has. Driving electric is the future and that little snippet we got with the Prius in slow moving traffic is much much better when it carries on, with umph and no engine firing up. The Prius is a relaxing car but the Leaf takes that to a whole other level. That reminded me, the Leaf under full acceleration is much quicker than the Prius in Power mode until about 50 mph when it dies off disappointingly. It is fun at the traffic light drag strip race with Mr Angry Cokehead in his flash BMW. You just know he'll end up going home and beating his wife cos some crappy little Nissan beat him so easily :) It's a shame Toyota gave up on the electric game, a PIP with useful range (30 miles?) would be a cracking car if priced sensibly. Fun on electric and great economy when in hybrid mode. The performance stats for the Mirai are a bit poor. But it doesn't take long for your couple gallons equivalent of electric fun to come to an end and you're back to plugging in again. I haven't got the proper charger installed yet - funding levels cut and they're no longer free :(( and the 13 amp plug charger that comes with the car is called a slow charger for a very very good reason!

  11. Had problem with my aircon where it would work ok but if turned off and back on would play up, took it to my trusted independent Toyota dealer who said they were not too sure but got a guy in who was semi retired but expert on aircon systems, he traced it to the clutch on the compressor which Toyota and other main dealers will tell you it's a replacement part only at cost of over £350 , well he said these can be repaired and replaced a shim in the clutch for me and total bill £40 two years ago and still going strong so get a second opinion from someone who knows Aircon systems and don't rely on what they tell you.

  12. Go back to the dealer and ask what is actually wrong with the air conditioning - is it the condenser? That way if you approach someone else, you can provide an indication of what the problem may be.

  13. Hi Sonja, sorry to hear of your problems, my wife just sold her 2006 Rav 4 because she lost confidence with Toyota dealers X3 and her Rav 4, her Rav 4's electric steering just locked up at about 60 mph going round a very fast bend on the slip road, nearly threw her off the road. I know it's not easy but you need to ask why it's not working, It may be seized with not being used over the winter, it may need just a re-fill many garages now do a air con service try a decent one locally, my advise don't spend that sort of cash on it.....at 50,000 miles it may be something simple, it won't need a complete replacement... Hi Sonja I believe you have a cool car mobile dealer in York, I can't tell you how good they are, never used them but they do get good ratings,
