  1. As far as I'm aware the £5000 grant was for fully electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles - the Prius Plug-in being the only member of the Prius range that was eligible. The grant scheme was extended from March 2016, and the grant for the current Prius Plug-in is £2500 - see https://www.gov.uk/plug-in-car-van-grants The plug-in version of the new Prius is only being launched next week as you now know from the previous thread you began.

  3. Yes, but if you see them approaching, speeding up slightly is enough to keep them behind, and the next hill usually gets rid of them! :D I guess it also depends upon when you're driving. In heavy traffic, safety comes before economy.

  4. Only the Swift Sport older version with the 5 speed manual. A lot quicker than any Yaris's , however that boot is tiny. Handling is pretty good if not better than the Yaris , but the ride is very firm though.

  6. Again it is ok , but I hardly use mine , I prefer using my iPhone with the Waze app , I also have TomTom installed just in case.

  7. Bizarre - it works perfectly for me, and my display looks identical to yours. Only thing I can think that's different is that my files aren't numbered sequentially like that - each album (which have individual folders) is individually numbered - and not all my filenames are numbered at all. The tracks are numbered. I didn't take any care what order I saved onto the USB - I just dragged and dropped folders. I'm saying nowt about your playlist - least said, soonest mended! ;-)

  9. Try 60 on motorway and 50 on A roads - makes a huge difference in my Yaris and adds maybe 5 minutes to a journey!

  10. It has to be proper wet and dirty to render the camera totally usable. If it is just normal rain , it should be still ok. but a quick wipe sorts it out.

  12. The Fiesta infotainment system is tiny compared to the Yaris. and it looks a bit naff as well.

  13. Yeah i have the Nav on mine , it was thrown in free of charge when i got the car. Im guessing you can get the GPS module to add to the existing Touch , but they are quite expensive. Circa £500-£700 ...

  16. They are not as standard , but they are an optional extra. It has a reversing camera which is more than adequate for parking maneuvers.

  17. Yaris with the touch screen will either have Toyota's Touch or Touch2 system. Navigation was an option, which one can add, but be aware that updates are expensive. Toyota GB's five year/100,000 mile new car warranty is transferable. Whether the warranty is still valid will depend on whether the car has been serviced in line with Toyota's service schedule - services required every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Under Block Exemption owners may have their vehicles serviced outside the manufacturer's dealer network at a VAT registered garage, and retain the warranty, provided the manufacturer's service schedule has been adhered to (see above), and provided parts of equivalent quality have been used. In the event of a warranty claim, the onus will be on the owner to prove these two requirements, have been met - so detailed invoices would need to be kept of work done outside the dealer network. Self servicing won't satisfy these requirements. The same conditions would apply to any manufacturer, not just Toyota.

  18. Sorry - can't help with your specific query. However, I recently found out that the mode button on my Gen 3+ can cancel traffic reports. You know when you receive interrupting traffic reports from different areas which you don't want to listen to, I was struggling to find a way to cancel them. I discovered that simply pressing the mode button stops the broadcast. Yay!

  19. Since none of the Mk2 owners have not answered, and I am not sure myself, I will mention the Mk1 fog light upgrade. It may be the same for the Mk2. I used to own a Mk1 GLS model which had the front fog lights as standard. The wiring was in place, so the only modification needed is the stalk with the front fog position, the lights themselves, and I think the relay in the drivers foot well near the fusebox. Check the instrument panel to make sure the front fog indicator has a bulb fitted. Once they are all connected everything should work! Hopefully somebody will answer the question but, it seems most people either own the higher spec cars or have not bothered.

  20. Not on the SR , I believe it is only on the Excel model that has automatic lights / wipers . Personally I find them a hindrance on the Golf which seems to turn on the lights and or wipers at the most annoying times .

  21. My Toyota - https://www.toyota.co.uk/tme#/my-toyota/ Reg.no or VIN needed. Recall checker - https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/owners/recall-checker.json Reg.no needed.

  22. You can register on mytoyota- can't remember whether you just need the registration to do this or something else like the VIN. Once registered you can see when toyota serviced it and what recalls it has had. There is also a separate website portal where you can check if there are any outstanding recalls. Just google toyota recall checker. Those nuts about bolts videos are brilliant- fair play to the guy that did them all. It is all simple stuff really. I've just managed to install the techstream software on my win 10 laptop and apparently there's a way of basically doing a hybrid health check on it but haven't had a chance to have a proper look as yet. I'd think you'd have to be really unlucky to get a duff battery in a 2009 with 60,000 miles on it

  23. Cost is probably the main reason. And there is a big difference for end user, economy. The gen 3 plug-in with li-ion battery demonstrates this, out performing any other gen 3 on a none plug in journey for MPG.

  24. The price to supply & fit a new battery for a Prius under Toyota's Fixed Price Scheme is £95. https://www.toyota.co.uk/caring-for-your-toyota/service-and-maintenance/repairs.json

  25. Sadly, that dropped to £2,500 at the start of this month. Thus reducing Toyota GB profit by £2,500 per car. Thanks to Grumpy Cabbie for the analysis of that, long ago. The same went for the weasel warranty. TGB claimed that the price of the Gen 3 went up in 2010 to cover the cost of extending the warranty to 5 years. But the increase just happened to reflect the change in exchange rates GBP to YEN.
