  1. 2. Dang guys you sure know how to keep a fella waiting huh? Haha I can appreciate the time it takes to surely get what I want, so I thank you all for your replies! And trust me, I've read up on Taz's IQ up and down, inside and out. Along with several others on here and IQ-Forums.. Seriously, truly inspirational work he's sorta top dog IMO on IQ-Forums. I also enjoy reading about Tarquins accomplishments on here, he's built himself up to be quite the guru (Airbagged too, but I'm apprehensive to bring him up). I ultimately did some research guys, Like I said... Logically I say IA or Yaris, but damn, the IQ just screams at me. I've decided on it after my research about the engine family, as well as the different iterations of the k411b ??? transmission. Apparently the North American market has the revised version of this transmission, which has heritage all the way back to I think to like 08 or so... So it's no scary thing to love this car for me anymore! I just really wanted you guys to tell me there are no immediate concerns... I really want to do my part to make this car into a niche fan-favorite!

  3. Hi Jack, DO READ my last attachment and at LEAST TRY blocking the fuel feed to the fifth Injector it's a simple cheap job and must be worth a try because if it does not cure it just convert it back I have only had one car start to smoke again after this mod and that even stopped on it's own accord so I suspect an intermittent Injector. As for getting a complete rebuild for £1,500 I would say TAKE EXTREEM CARE as there are a lot of con artist in the Engine Rebuild market and you will have to pay a fair bit more than that to get a really good quality guaranteed rebuilt engine fitted, personally I would prefer a second hand engine with good documented history. AS for a rebuilt one do research the company you choose to use via Google and Trust Pilot etcetera looking especially for unhappy customers if they have masses of good feedback and just a few bad ones then they maybe ok especially if the bad feedbacks do seem unreasonable. Best of luck, Mel.

  4. This is covered on p141 of the manual: if you enter an mpg figure for a different car in the "COMP. Consumption" option in the "Meter Customize" setting screen (p155) you get the "SAVINGS" display if no comparative mpg figure is entered, you get the "FUEL COST" display.

  5. looking at the installation instructions that is what I reckoned but I didn't have the real world parts to hand to actually test.

  6. I sorted it, there was a bit that went over the whole hole and you could just center it over the screw hole so it all works fine.

  7. There's no luck. Disc is held place by caliber and pads, furthermore with wheel bolts its held in place - where is it going to go? If you're worried about the disc becoming insecure, then I would suggest if the road wheel were to fall off, you've got bigger problems to contend with. I've never come across a brake disc becoming insecure and leading to a hazard. However incorrectly torqued caliper or wheel bolts, are more of a concern.

  8. Good advice re the OBC reader. The light may not be related to sensors but the reader will tell you exactly what is causing the warning. Supermarket pee is to be avoided at all costs IMHO. I will not spend anymore than I need to but I consider the few pennies extra for Shell or Esso, etc. to be money well spent. I can only speak from my own experience but the only RAV we owned that was run solely on supermarket petrol required several sensors plus a catalyst whereas the two we've had since, which were/are fed exclusively on branded fuel (and often V-Power/Nitro) have needed none at all. Same sorts of journies, same servicing dealer, only the fuel is different. As for investigative journalists, judging by the garbage written about motoring matters in the mainstream press and the fact that most of them slum it in London, their only experience remotely associated with cars is hailing a cab.
