  1. Pretty sure I was the first to fit a standard DIN radio in an iQ and I know of only one other being done afterwards. Images of my install are halfway down this page. http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/134890-an-iq-called-toya/?page=7 Craig.

  2. I haven't entertained this idea as I absolutely adore my IQ1, I think they are rare enough to enjoy the 'uniqueness' feel, they are nippy and great fun to drive. The Smart looks very very similar, but owning one of the original Smarts years ago, I find them very dated and small, not been inside a new looking one. Every other car I see are Fiat 500's and they're as common as dog s@!7, so I won't be choosing them. I don't think there is anything as quirky, attractive or modifiable as the IQ around to consider anything as a suitable replacement. I hope that fateful day is many, many years ahead. I for one am keeping my IQ and enjoying it for a VERY long time. Matt

  3. Greetings! As of just a few weeks, I'm now the proud owner of a black 2012 iQ! So far very happy with the purchase! Living and working in the city of Oslo, Norway - a city that hates the car more than most. Our local council has pretty much said that they hate cars, and are attempting to make the city car-free and therefore also parking free within the next few years. So far parking has been an absolute breeze, even in the inncer city. This thing fits into every nook and cranny, and so far I haven't even had to fill up with fuel (bought it with a full tank). I've always liked doing little tweaks to my cars, so this will be my build thread. I'll try to keep it updated as things go along. First off - Meet my beaut:

  4. Hi I suggest you have a full geometry check done sounds like something bent has the car been in a shunt in the past do a quick measurement of the wheel gap in the arches front and back . Also the geometry check alignment will show the issue ,sounds like excessive negative camber if I remember the right terms , I'm sure some will google it as advise . Good luck

  6. Sometime ago I was think of doing the same Matt. After hunting around this site and others, from memory (and a poor one) I believe it seemed to be quite costly getting all the right bits and pieces from Toyota. It depends how handy you are with fibre glass but somewhere on the interweb there's an article by an iQ owner who made his own cowling to put a radio etc., in. If I can find the posts that I'm thinking of I'll put them on here.

  7. I would - if you're feeling brave - dip the lens part of the cluster in to a bucket of water for a minut or two, then take it out and see if it's taken on any water. If it hasn't then maybe the water ingress is coming in from where you plug the wires in to it. That bit I wouldn't test in water, but it would narrow the culprits down. But there's water in there and it has to come from somewhere.

  8. I wonder if the auto transmission fluid may need changing, on top of the servicing suggested?

  10. Clean your maf sensor and throttle body along with the pcv give it a good service if you can with genuine parts and oil.and as the other poster said fuel/injector cleaner (millers petrol ecomax).also take off battery terms for 20-30mins to clear the memory.it will relearn your driving style and you just need to adjust your radio station 's again.

  11. I think creaking is more likely to be the anti-roll bar bushes.

  14. Hi and welcome to the world of iQ ownership Bakkus. Lovely looking iQ and really like those seats too. Can you please let me/us know how the install goes and what's involved of fitting the new radio/console install. I've been thinking of doing the same myself but funds are a bit low at the moment with other 'projects' for the iQ on the goe. Best Wishes, Gerry, Cornwall, UK

  15. Update. I took it in to a different garage, and they inspected it immediately. They found the caliper okay, but the pad had worn into a wedge shape which locked up against the disk. When the caliper released, the pad couldn't shift. They changed the pads on both rear wheels and charged me sixty quid. Drives like a dream now that the wheel is free to move.
