Yes the shift indicator in both our Auris and Avensis work as above. It's slightly academic though is my wife will happily drive for miles in her Avensis on a flat, straight road in 4th gear with the 'shift up' indicator glowing desperately at her, taking not the slightest notice of it. I just console myself with the fact that it's probably giving the DPF a really good clear out....

I use this sight along with http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota Toyota are very consistent with each generation of cars, so fixes for the Celica, are the same for Avensis using the same engine. Also the OBD jumper wire/paper clip tricks are the same across most the cars for ABS, SRS and EML until OBD2 standard and VSC systems came along. Then you need a diagnostic scanner that supports these later functions.

Hello everyone,I have just joined and I pick up a 2015 Aygo x-pression in the morning,I’ve always driven big cars so I hope I will be happy with this one,I’m trading my ford ranger in for it,the main reason being the economy and free tax but also I have found myself driving the wife’s viva a lot lately and feel I could live with a small car for everyday driving.i had a carina years ago but at 210000 miles it failed the mot and was not economically viable to repair so if the Aygo is anywhere near as reliable as that was I’m sure I’ll be more than happy. thank you.

Just got to remember its got a smaller engine and may not have the ‘bite’ that your use too, but once its got some speed, hey, GREAT!! I personally think all recalls are worthwhile, Toyota spend a small fortune getting cars in to do any recalls so they wouldn't do the recall if they considered it wasn't necessary and it's FOC to you as well. If you decide to have the job done that you are considering it can all be done at the same time, none of us can quote on the price on the work but the dealer can of course but remember it will only be a quote, if they hit complications it possibly may change a little once the work is done. You obviously love your car so as long as you can afford it personally i'd have it done. A polite word of warning Toyota spares can be very expensive and surprisingly so.

Probably the air bag recall, ask for a quote for the jobs you want doing

If you think your rear brakes may be binding, after finishing your journey just put your hand (carefully) on the rear wheels (the steel not the rubber) if they are hot then yes you could have a problem with a sticky handbrake (be aware that they will normally be quite warm anyway). The best way is to jack the car up a little so the wheel is just off the ground then spin it. Repeat on the other side. You'll soon have your answer.
