  1. I just carried out the annual oil and filter service, for the third year. The car has just done over 76,000 miles. I took the following photo a few hours later to record the odometer. I covered my previous oil service experience here:- I am currently using Petronis 0W-20 oil I got at discount from Euro Car Parts. The only issue I had this time, was the filter being hard to undo. Blame the last person who changed the oil filter - me. A longer socket handle and brute force sorted that out. Toyota seem to be using the same style filter across the range of most the petrol and hybrid engines, including the tool. I checked the coolant which was near the minimum mark. I topped up a little for the first time in well over a year, which is not bad, since only a small amount was needed. Drive belt was checked and looks fine - I have spare in the boot. The cabin and air filters have been change earlier this year. The car is fine for a good while.

  2. Well, today I took the plunge, not a new one, but a Gen4 Excel, just under 2 year old. Bought from Toyota dealer in Solihull, under 21,000 miles, Pearlescent Red, and with 15” wheels plus a spare. Collection to be confirmed but possibly next Friday 20th July. Looking forward to getting it.

  3. Haven't done anything special. Phone already had Cortana enabled. When a text cones in, it is displayed on X-touch as a private call, but Cortana, through the multimedia system, tells me I have a text message, and asks whether I want to read it or ignore it. If I decide to read it, Cortana reads me the message and gives me the option to reply. If I decide to reply, I speak what I want the text reply to read. Cortana then gives me the option to send, add more or cancel. It has worked like this from the day I took delivery of the Aygo. This only applies to new messages - cannot access existing messages.

  5. A sub-forum to the Toyota MPV club has been set up for the Estima - https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/forum/209-toyota-estima-forum/ The same was done for the Alphard a few weeks ago.

  6. In order to keep the aircon in good order, it's best to leave it on permanently. Best thing in the cooler/colder months about this, is that the car demists quickly - and because you have the aircon on permanently, it probably won't mist up in the first place as the car internals are bone dry. Double wammy here. Dry and mist-free windows, and no smelly socks. Mick.

  7. Hello everyone, Today, I received a message from Igor Sobreira via TOC (see below) with a fix for this common Toyota Auris problem. It means removing the indicator arm, although he has produced a video showing how it is done. Once removed it is just a small matter of cleaning a couple of dirty contacts ... quite simple, really. However, for me it was too late because I took my car back to the dealer, Ron Brooks of Ilkeston Derby's, who promptly told me that they had never heard of this problem before and apparently replaced the unit at a cost of £150.00. Having watched this video, I now feel like I have been well and truly fleeced. Igor sobreira said: Hello everyone it seems to be a really common problem I just repaired mine 2008 Auris with the same problem and made a video about it, it should be able to help i show where the relay is located and relay spec, the indicator stalk mechanism has a contact that needs to be cleaned and bent and that should resolve the problem, I hope it helps good luck ...https://youtu.be/yA99sryDDBE
