  1. Hi, I'm a new member, just found the site. I have a Toyota Carina E, registered 1992. I was wondering how I could find out how many cars of this era were still around?

  2. Ok so that's both of us seeing the same. So apparently the Police are very quick now to stop any driver with misted, iced or partial window obscurity on ANY window in a car - 3 points & a big fine for driving like this! So take care if you're tempted to drive off in freezing cold weather. With no manual, I need the best way to get the car heating up inside more rapidly if/when the frost and ice starts. Any ideas with a climate control A/C unit?

  3. As someone who tried to battle rust, it's like cancer, it comes back fast. If you are sure the rust is only on the underside, the parts that can be fixed with some more solid metal, i'd consider keeping it. If the rust is showing on the bodywork, get rid of it asap. I tried undercoating, it looked to me it just made things worse, i know it's a bit of redneck solution, but some oil sprayed on the underside, and driving on the dirt roads did far better job for me, unless you have a leaky engine, then you dont have to do anything 🙂

  5. No I want to keep it for another few years and have it as my work horse Doubt id do the exhaust and air take but the remap is very tempting, if it true to 5% extra mpg id make that back and more.

  6. Hi, Not something I have experienced, though I do not usually use Auto, as it tends to get a bit noisy when it turns the fans high; normally just use manual with fan speeds 2 or 3. Will try your condition next time I'm out, though it does make logical sense because if the water temp is below the cabin temp its only going to cool you down if it switches the fan on. Once water heat is detected it will keep ramping up the fan speed until the desired temp is met. Usually set off with my fan switched off these cold mornings and drive a good mile before turning the fans on with the temp set to Max.

  7. Hi Paul, I’ve just read the first page re your Carina. I think that was a car that never was abused, and when I get to reading all your other posts I’ll probably find that it was well serviced throughout the years. I would also probably find that you have removed the seats and carpets and investigated the condition of the floor pan internal tin work. Low mileage for the years also hopefully genuine. Will check out the rest of your posts on your Carina. Regards, Bernard

  8. Hi, Yes, mine is the same. Started my cold engine, temp set at 21c and pressed AUTO but the blower does not come on. Pressed the temp down and the blowers stays off right down to 16c, but then press down again to COLD and the blower comes on full blast.
