  1. I just received the letter from Toyota that my hybrid Auris TS was recalled. As I don't trust Toyota dealerships at all (I had bad experiences before so I started to service the car myself) I decided to ask you for a recommendation. Which garage in London should I go to? I may even go outside London if the garage is good. Thanks.

  2. As Frosty says you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, don't let them talk you out of them.

  3. I believe if you turn off keyless, to get it to start you have to touch the key fob to the start button when pressing it.

  4. They are pretty much all the same, if you lucky you might get proper service if not I don’t want even to think about. I have done few recalls in Jemca edgware and everything was ok. Maybe you can give them a try. I think that as further away from London you deal with dealers your are more likely to get better service, London it’s just disgraceful place for anything since a decade ago. Good luck 👍

  5. Fully agreed here! 👍 dealers are saying 4 hours because there are other cars that they serve at the same time, usually will take no longer than 30min to an hour.

  6. Another proof of dealerships incompetence! I wouldn't go for this update as previous terrible experiences with dealerships but as a Private Hire Vehicle, I think I have to. I hate to leave my car for up to 4 hours with this morons. Because they lack professionalism I purchased tools and I am doing repairs and maintenance myself.

  7. Lucky you Tony. They look like stunning cars. Much more exclusive than the top German three. I didn't realise that they have discontinued the avensis now. The new corolla saloon looks nice also.

  8. Thanks, Tony. Estate is 30cm longer - too big (had a colleague who had Auris estate on loan when her Auris was run into on Mway and it was a real pain), and saloon is same 30cm longer and reviews suggest this is really Avensis replacement. (Can't find anything in UK spec for power door on estate.) Incidentally the Auris does have a reachable lip/handle but the profile of rear has changed to a much shallower slope so hatch needs to open further to get out of the way.

  9. I'm pleased to report a result! After several conversations with Toyota I was told that their field service engineer had put a hold on my complaint. Apparently he was concerned that the various body shops that were doing the repairs were getting complacent and overcharging. The estimate for my partial respray was £3500. After some badgering at the dealership he agreed to a max of £3000, and the body shop reduced their estimate to the same. Many thanks to Toyota. They have gone up considerably in my estimation and are once again on my "approved list" of manufacturers. Thanks also to you all for your advice and comments.

  10. Gd point. I've gone for the cheaper option of buying a rear bumper guard to fit on top the bumper. Way cheaper than respray.. unless I can find a 2nd hand one In gd nick.

  11. A lot of cars come with tyre repair kits now instead of a spare wheel. So you don't legally need one for a MOT. Some garages needlessly say " engine cover preventing visual inspection" etc. MOT testing seems so varied and is the opinion of the tester!
