  1. Good Morning All I'd just like to post to say Hello again and advise that I am back within the fold of Aygo ownership yet again, You may remember I was lucky enough to get a New Aygo X-Play in 2017 as part of a scrappage scheme Toyota was running at the time, Ownership of this became a problem because it was a manual which was all the dealer had at that time and my wife can only drive an automatic, I tried to rectify this at first service but they wouldnt swap me into an automatic and the only option they gave was to swap to a used Yaris Hybrid! I have finally managed to part exchange that for my new bright red Aygo X-Trend Automatic (Ruby) and I like it far better than the Yaris!!! I've attached a few pictures!

  3. I was quite critical of the design of most hybrid cars bowing to fashion. IE wide wheels wide wing mirrors ( high drag) Under car aerodynamics being a bit naff( What the punter cant see doesn't sell cars). I've never understood why it is important to dress up a vehicle designed for efficiency and economy to seemingly undo some of that clever design in order to boy racer- bling things up. If owner wants the wide wheels and decked suspension ,those sorts of car are available elsewhere. Gold plating a shed is always going to be inappropriate, why not gold plate something which is already blingy by design?

  4. If you press the EV button within 5 seconds of the Ready light coming on you can force EV, even with a cold engine, as long as there are 3 or more bars on the HV indicator, it will kick out at 20 mph though. Not sure why you would want to spend time and money installing a block heater just to get (at most) 1.5 km of EV travel ?

  5. Hi, Am not a Diesel man, but some of your info does not seem right according to the info I have, The Haynes manual states changing the gearbox oil every 40,000 miles or 4 years. Not sure why you are changing to 0W-40 oil, particularly a thinner one, again seems 5W-30 is the correct grade ? Don't forget to change the Key batteries and fuel filter.

  6. Hi, To be honest I do not see the point in using a Brake Fluid Tester, if any doubt, just change the fluid at the correct service interval and that ensures all is well. No one will tell you 8 year old fluid in a car is good, even new bottles of foil sealed brake fluid has a shop shelf like of about 2 years if memory serves me right. When buying fluid check the manufacturing date printed on the bottles, I avoid any more than 12 months old. Assume you have had or or going to change the engine and gearbox oil , antifreeze/coolant and even the petrol as according to some tv programs even that can go off and block the injectors. Expect the battery will have been replaced as they do not like to be left uncharged for years.

  7. I was just searching for some other advice on Corolla's and came across my thread I started back in 2008. Well I'm pleased to report that my Corolla is still going strong some 7 and a bit years later - and has now nearly clocked 175K :-)
