  1. Best of health to enjoy it. It’s pretty much a bombproof car if looked after - my Avensis (59 plate, 128,000 miles is doing great too) and my Lexus GS450h (56 plate) is superb at 117,000 miles [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. I've just taken delivery of a 2019 Corolla Design 1.8 Hybrid TRK. TRK indeed! The dealer suggested that if I couldn't use the useless tyre repair kit, I instead use the breakdown cover if I have a puncture but in rural Scotland that could be a very long wait for a repair. I was quoted silly money from the dealer for a space saver steel wheel so I found the wheel geometry somewhere and it's the same as an Auris Space saver. So I purchased the Auris one and it fits both the wheel studs and under the boot floor. I placed the order on Friday at 4pm and delivered via DHL the following Tuesday. Purchased from The Wheel Shop. https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk/toyota-auris-space-saver-spare-wheel-17-and-tool-kit.html Don't forget you'll need the retaining bolt.

  3. The day finally came on 13th July 2019. My new car arrived to the dealership on Friday and after they added the Toyota protect to the outside and the inside, we picked it up on Saturday. I have to say, the pictures don't do the car justice in this case. I'm so glad we went with the red color because it's stunning! It looks great on pictures but has an extra WOW effect in person. I went all in on the car, 2.0 hybrid, panoramic roof, HUD. JBL and Adaptive suspension were the only things I didn't go for. I'll add some pictures so everyone can see 🙂 As for the car itself, coming from a 2006 Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi, this feels like a space shuttle 😄 The level of noise in the car can't even be compared, the ride comfort, acceleration, ease of driving. I really feel like I'm driving in a premium class and brand car.

  4. Have you checked the Hybrid battery cooling fan filter? If this is blocked the Hybrid battery gets too hot and the Hybrid control system reduces the use of the battery to protect it.

  6. We bought a brand new Clio in 2001. The alarm would go off every night. No-one near it, nothing touched, but it would go off every single night. Good job we're a long way off any neighbours! Finally traced it down to a moth setting off the alarm as it fluttered around inside by the light of the moon! Renault decreased the sensitivity of the internal volumetric sensor, and we never had any trouble with it again. Maybe you have a moth in there? Mick.

  7. All sounds really great Brian, glad you enjoyed yours. I like the look of the Subaru's, and have often thought of owning one, but I'm enjoying the Carina far to much. The car has had new parts fitted, that will be coming up in a video in the future, I think I've filmed up to episode 54 so far, and these videos will feature some Hard Race parts, along with some Ultra Racing parts to come in the future. A lot of the parts I am ordering aren't "in stock", so I normally have to wait about 4-10 weeks, hence why I filmed lots of episodes in advance. Thanks for the nice comments and memories 😄

  10. Ok. I solved this problem by buying new Corolla hybrid and givi g them My auris. I guess that IT was easiest way. I asked My local Toyota shop to check IT. They checked and drive IT and says that IT IS normal Auris. I drive other Auris witch was newer and 100 tkm less driven. It didn't feel lot better. Biggest difference was that My Auris Goes always Power Area on rpm when I touch gas pedal. Even Tiny uphill or going to highway quite slow. This feels better and at least i have guarantee. Thanks a lot for helping.

This costs £10 per month= £120 less the interest I earn with the bank = so I get all that for £36 a year 😀

Sorry to hear this but, buying anything require some research. Why Toyota used BMW engine: At the time when Toyota has their main focus on hybrid means they didn't want to invest in diesel. They got their vision right. Spending money on diesel to meet Euro 6 was not worth the investment. I didn't want a BMW engine packaged by a Toyota skin, that's why I opted for an older car. So what ever car you buy, always spend times researching it and read reviews of the problems they have and to look out for.

  13. When I bought my Gen 4 Prius 3 years ago I had some overseas travel plans and wanted to take 2 keys with me and still have a spare back home, so I ordered a 3rd fob. The fob was £164.22 plus setup with car's security software at £19.80. From memory, if I'd wanted the emergency key as well it was somewhere in the region of £150-£180 so I decided one can have too much insurance... (I think I got a little loyalty discount to get these prices too). The RAV4 fob has an additional button for the electric tailgate, so I imagine this and inflation will take an additional toll! Most things seem to me to affect renewal - Insurers seem to emphasise things that won't affect the discount, in the hope their customers will lose sight of the possible effect on future premiums. In the past I've been told a windscreen claim has been part of the reason for a premium increase, plus in 2001 and 2002 I had two serious collisions, the first causing an 11 month old car to be very close to being written off (I'm sure if it had been over 12 months they would have written it off, but the policy paid for a new car if the write-off was during the first year) and in the second my car (a different one I'd only had 6 months) was written off. Both incidents were adjudged 100% the other parties' fault, and I also had NCD protection, but my premium almost doubled at the next renewal and didn't settle down until about the third year after.

  14. Brings back so many memories of one of the best cars I ever had - a 1997 P reg Carina E 1.8 in silver. Had some work done to it - exhaust, wheels, much sound system work, various bits inside, a Kenlow HotStart fitted, lowered springs, drilled discs/EBC pads etc. I did 100,000 miles in it over 3 1/2 years then sold it for a new Avensis (which lasted 8 months before I bought the car I really wanted - a new Subaru Impreza WRX). Now back in an Avensis (alongside my Lexus GS450h). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. 100% sorted for me - this is it months after I Silkaflex’s the rear lights and gaskets, the roof rails and the paint joins at the hinges, as well as replaced the Toyota vents inside the bumper followed by rust treating the boot floor - now looks like this after many months : Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Yes - there's a threaded hole right underneath the carpet where you would expect it to be. Small operation with a pair of scissors :) I was fortunate in that I had a retaining bolt left over from a previous vehicle (Kia) that was the required length/thread size.
