  1. Just my opinion, but personally, even if it costs more and for peace of mind I would use Toyota's CVT fluid.

  2. Filled the car to 2nd click after being delieved and have done 205 miles and filled up again to 2nd click on the pump Used 13.41litres so averaged 69.57 mpg which was a combination of motorway and town driving (the onboard computer gave a reading of around 76 mpg) I think this is really good mpg which I think may increase as the engine loosens. Only done 300 miles total What are others getting

  4. No, with relay they don't send a signal to your fob but use a piece of hardware to boost the signal from your fob (unless it's asleep/switched off/in a Faraday pouch etc.) to the car - the car then thinks that the fob is present at/near the car so they can open it & start it. Once it is started they can drive it away from the fob. If you have turned off Smart Entry then, yes, you should be OK. Of course you have also paid for hardware that is now effectively redundant & no more convenient. 😛

  5. More to do with volumes than different specifications. For example, In 2018, Toyota sold 68,779 Rav4's in Europe and 427,168 in the US. Also car companies price and spec vehicles according to the individual country's market, and using comparisons with competing vehicles within that market.

  6. Thanks for that info. You are the first person to give light on four beeps. I will give it a try. Also will look for solid white box. (Bit flat where i am at moment so will be a few days) 3 beeps i am ok with and dont use LTA unless its on dual carriage way or motorway as it seems to get easily confused by bus stops and other across the road markings. I did some checks and it seems to vary between 5 or 3 beeps but i think that may be between crossing the line and line missing. (Not to worried as its only used by me on well marked roads) I have to say it would be nice if there was a beep & bong cross ref table in the manual.

  7. I ended up with red in the end, mainly because it was a decent car at a reasonable price and I'd pretty much lost the will to carry on looking. I don't like red cars, having been scarred many years ago by a Renault 5 which turned pink. However, Hypersonic Red is a bit more candy-apple custom with the pearl effect and is quite pleasant in the sunshine. To be honest, as I never wash my cars and spend well over half the year driving in pitch darkness, colour was never going to be that important. I had to draw the line at Spirited Aqua though! Regarding distance travelled to make a purchase, 300 miles is good going. I'd routinely do over 200 back in my turbo-nutter days, but I think Norwich to St Helens was my longest. Or possibly Yeovil. Mad distances just for a car, really, although driving back then was a lot more fun that it is now. I went from Suffolk to Stockport for my Lexus a while back, and that wasn't an enjoyable drive, although at least the dealer was prepared to negotiate a decent 'deal' despite being in possession of the only GS300 Premier in the country at the time. The PHV experience has pretty much decided that I won't ever do long distances for a car again, nor will I attempt to actually 'buy' a car with 'money'. By the time I'm due another motor, I'm pretty sure I'll have reached the age where I'll give in and do what I always swore I'd never do, which is buy brand new and go for a PCP. I just don't have the energy to fight the system any more.
