  2. I'm more likely to do a moose swerve test going past a local school when little johnny **** bag runs out in front of my car at 20 mph because his 15 year old mother is too busy scoring a bag off weed of the local do as you likely 12 yr old .

  3. I certainly hope we can retrofit some of these things to our cars. I've only had mine for a month. Great car, but absolutely rubbish 'entertainment system'. Android auto retrofit would be a godsend. Even the power tailgate would be useful. Let's see!

  4. So I got the Excel ‘Silver Blade’ with standards wheels and standard black leather, plus protection pack (scuff plates, rubber floor mats, mug flaps, rear bumper protection plate and boot liner. Panoramic roof, JBL prem sound system, pan view monitor. I paid extra to have special paint protection coating. I do not know if this is normal but dealer gave lovely ‘Hybrid mats’ but my floor will get dirty so they are covered by the best rubber mats I have seen in a car. Generally I had no idea what the car was going to look like until I got it. I love the black trim at window level on the rear quarter that enhances the tinted windows. I will saw I like it more than I was expecting.

  5. Pretty bad experience, exactly opposite to mine. If that happened to me I would probably never buy any Goodyear tyres again even for a bicycle. 👍

  6. They better give us a retrofit for CarPlay and AA soon!

  7. Nope - I'm with you. I like them mainly as they offer some protection from careless door opening in car parks (as some clown demonstrated the other day when getting into his car while chatting away on his mobile, and didn't even notice he'd knocked my car hard enough to make it rock slightly. Luckily, the strip took the knock, which isn't always the case). I've had them either as standalone extras or as part for a 'protection pack' on my last 5 Toyotas. One downside is that insurance companies have become very funny about the slightest changes to standard spec, and Co-op Insurance even refused to quote for my last Prius because of the protectors! The girl spoke to an underwriter and phoned me back, and said it was because they "changed the dimensions of the car"!!! I pointed out their purpose, and that they were about ½ inch thick (much less protruding than door mirrors!) but didn't feel I wanted to deal with them anyway by this stage. I do religiously notify insurers of all my extras because in a collision serious enough to get an loss adjuster visit (or maybe just photos from the repairer) it might just possibly give the Insurer an excuse to try to say the insurance was invalid due to alterations not notified. Apart from the above example, it's never made any difference, but it sometime means I have to phone because I have too many extra to complete a quote online - thus missing an online discounts. Last time round, one company even included magnetic adverts on the doors in their list of things to notify.

  9. Personally i am not a fan of them, but it's yours and you make it your own 🙂 I get why you fit them as some people don't know how to park and just don't care about other people property. I tend to park the further point away as they are always the emptiest places. But I never take up two spaces... hate those people 😛

  12. I've spent the last week fitting custom made plates to Auris's for a hire company. They cost £9 to manufacture, and perhaps £2 in fittings. Takes around 8 minutes to fit too (after doing a few!).

  13. Good post Bob. 🙂 I always think it's a shame when an unusual and interesting post like this which gives lots of new information (as far as I know) that will be really helpful to many in the future gets no replies at all after a week. I think my screen is the earlier and dumber type. 😞 There are few things I'd like to change on my screen. Top of the list is to add a clock function because the small clock in driver's binnacle is so small. Next on the hit list is to ban safety message that obstructs the view slightly at the bottom of the reverse camera screen..

  14. 411 miles, 30 litres. 62.2 mpg. Car claimed 64.3. The long trip never happened but that's very nice for a tank of commuting.

  15. Glad you got it sorted, even though it was expensive. There are a few parts that Euro Car Parts sell that are not correct for any car, make or model. Obviously the caliper is one, but I remember when I went to buy the cabin filter for my old Mk1 Avensis. Unlike the T25 and T27 models, the cabin filter for the T22 comes in either left hand or right hand drive versions. ECP sell cabin filter far cheaper, but only supply the left hand drive version! The only way to use them is to cut the tabs off and find a way to fit and remove them. This makes an already fiddly job more time consuming. Or just go to Toyota and know you are getting the correct filter. There is always Ebay if someone is selling genuine UK spec! I don't go to my local car parts supplier, because they are actual worse for parts when it comes to my car. I will still use ECP on selected items, that I know fit and work, like service items. Other parts I will source on the net or special cases Toyota.

  17. If it's causing smoke, then you waited too long and it's probably already caused some amount of damage or extra problems, such as oil in the intercooler to be cleaned out would be the way I look at it. Are you sure it's not severe bearing wear and that the turbo isn't attempting to tear itself apart and dump debris throughout the intake, cylinders and exhaust system? On mine, at the very least, I can easily take the inlet pipe off from the turbo to see if the sound goes away and try to rule out the intercooler and rest of the intake side as the cause. After the miles you have done like this, maybe an inspection mirror or camera would show a sooty mark or two indicating a gasket leak or a hole on the hot side of the turbo?

  19. Thanks so much for your reply, I guess it's my mistake thinking Bluetooth comes as standard😶. Nevermind. I was wanting to stream music as well as answer calls - Halford quoted £250 on top of the cost of the stereo which seems expensive to me. They said it was something to do with needing special leads? I think I would prefer an integrated Bluetooth stereo fitted so if there is anyone who has any experience of doing this that would help. However, the Sat Nav you showed me looks like a great fall back plan if it will be too tricky so thanks for putting me on to that.

  20. Hi Kathryn and welcome to the board. I've had a look on Auto Trader at all the Aygo Black models on there and they all come with the standard Aygo stereo. Some other models in the range do have a bluetooth stereo which looks a bit different, like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Aygo-2010-2013-Radio-CD-Player-MP3-BLUETOOTH-/172920478865 Bluetooth is mentioned in my manual as well but I have the stereo, in my "Fire" which is the same as the one that you have fitted. As for replacing it, well it's case of what are you replacing it with and how much do you want to spend? Some Folk spend a fortune on updating their car stereo systems but if Halfords (Who, I have to admit, aren't the cheapest) are quoting £250 for a fitted stereo, then if the stereo that you are looking at is around the £200-£210 mark, plus fitting at about £40, then it's not too bad. I don't think that the Toyota Bluetooth Stereo ( I think it's made by Pioneer) is a straight fit, connections wise, into our Aygos but I might be wrong on that, so don't quote me!! You can get Bluetooth via various Sat Navs, from cheap Chinese ones which are sometimes pretty good, up to Tom Toms and Garmins. If you are thinking of getting a Sat Nav then for around the £130 mark, you could get a Garmin like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Garmin-DriveSmart-51LMT-S-Lifetime-Updates/dp/B01MYAXRPE/ref=sr_1_29?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1525169299&sr=1-29&keywords=garmin+sat+nav All you would have to do is attach it to your screen and plug it into your 12v supply/cigarette lighter socket.....No worries or costs about fitting. I hope that helps, all the best! Edit: P.S. I am guessing that you want Bluetooth to answer your phone. If you want it to get music from your phone then a cheaper option would be just to connect your phone to the "AUX" socket on the stereo that you already have with a lead. I know that's not as tidy but it might save you a few Bob!! Anyway, tell us how you get on.
