It seems that Barrie, the original poster, last visited at 10:40pm last Thursday, a few hours after posting. This means he probably saw the first 3 replies. Why do people join, ask a question, then disappear.2 points

Lock the car with mechanical key, not the key fob, that wont enable the alarm. How do you turn the car on, if you dont have the key? If you have the smart start key fob, there is an actual mechanical key inside, check the side, you press the little button and you can pull it out, use it to lock the car. If you dont even have this, then manually lock all the doors from the inside using the switch on every door, then do the same on drivers door, and close it, it should be locked, and no alarm turned on.1 point

On my Gen4 Prius the volume is ok but the accuracy of the message is “iffy”, as in not always correct. For example, the system may pick up on 20mph limit, that’s fine, later I could be in 40 but the voice is telling me the speed limit is 20 even though the sign on my dash is 40 as well. If I turn the voice down then map instructions, when I use, are also just as low. Very frustrating.1 point

Not going by a video that I just Googled to check but possibly. It raises them something like 4-6" over previous Toyota placement (depending upon model).1 point

Hi John welcome to TOC 🙂 Don't know exactly which version you have on a Prius but try going Setup >General>Volume Settings1 point

After a very quick internet search, I now see that your Corolla has the 2ZZ-GE engine (I think), which a quick further search shows as being a Yamaha-designed engine, as you probably know. Maybe the Celica forum members (who have this engine fitted too?) have some insight on the design and idiosyncrasies of this motor? I guess you've already looked there.1 point

A few years ago a colleague of mine had just such an incident and successfully recovered the cost of a new wheel and tyre from the council.1 point

In the UK, the battery warranty extension of the hybrid health check only kicks in when the 5 year/100,000 mile new car/hybrid system warranty ends. Elsewhere in Europe the new car warranty is 3 years/100.000km and the hybrid system warranty is 5 years/100,000km. The battery warranty extension of the hybrid health check will kick in when the 5 year/100,000km hybrid system warranty ends. So if you have six services done and sell the car at 3 years, the remaining new car/hybrid system warranty will be around 2 years/30-40,000 miles, depending on the mileage and when the car is sold.1 point

I had the same issue. I used a box end 3/4" angled wrench. I didn't have to remove anything but the dust cap.😉1 point

Couple of shots of the Panoramic View Monitor: First is when Reverse is selected, note the yellow lines for front wheels as well on the left image. The icon on the bottom right switches between rear camera only, with normal and wide 180° view Second is when Drive is selected or the camera button is pressed (I've set mine up so this view automatically appears at low speeds. The large view is also 180° so if you're edging out of a blind turn you can see vehicles approaching from the side, but you have to look carefully. Touching each quarter of the left view zooms into that part, useful for parking tight against a kerb, etc. Note the parking space lines - no more excuses for untidy parking! When in P, pressing the camera button produces a rotating all round view, and you can even select the colour of the image of your RAV4 to match your chosen colour (not sure if all available colours are there though).1 point

Incidentally, the position for me does not hinder my front view. And actually I have the seat set to a high position and most of the camera is behind the mirror. I wired over sun blind, door passenger window hiding wires behind seal, all around inner door seal, then behind passenger cabinet. It was easy to do. For this picture I bent down lower just to show dash cam.1 point

Had this problem on our Rav 2002 petrol and it turned out to be the MAF (Mass air flow) sensor. Started off driving ok then started playing up when it got warm, no acceleration, jumping, then it would run ok for a bit. You can try cleaning the small wire inside with a cleaner but don't soak it else it will be knackered all together. I tried cleaning but it was still no good so had to replace with a new one, think it was £115.1 point

Try swapping the plugs ,etc around to see if the problem migrates with the move. Otherwise, I'd suspect the EGR.1 point

Hello, nice journey 😉 I'm in the process of fixing up my Carina as well. If you still have the original radio and are planning to get rid of it, I'd appreciate selling it to me. The one in there now is terrible aftermarket crap haha1 point

Hi Paul, referring to your original post. When rechargeable batteries first came popular for “everything “ the instruction was to let a battery run down before charging. This was because the batteries had a memory, and if you keep charging a battery only partially used then it would memorise this and thus the battery never worked to its full capabilities. Now, technology has improved the memory issue has gone, so it’s generally acceptable to only partially discharge a battery before changing it.1 point

One of the major reasons cited for the increase in cat thefts generally (not just Toyotas) in the UK, is that the legislation which prevents scrap dealers buying from unscrupulous sources isn't being enforced by Local Authorities, etc due to budget constraints.1 point

Seen via the BBC news app this morning..... ”Toyota does not make money when replacing stolen catalytic converters in cars, and it is also bearing the cost to discount the Catloc device for its customers, while it researches more anti-theft technologies, the BBC understands”. the report from bbc went on to say it has been illegal to pay cash for scrap metal, but there are some dealers who do pay cash fo catalytic converters, which tempts thieves. The police need to put people in jail for paying cash for scrap metal, as soon as the do that, the trade would slow down and stop, the report said. so, the real problem is there are too many tea-leafs about, and too few places to “punish” them, so they flourish and multiply.1 point

This arrived today. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01M1R3R0Z/ref=cm_sw_r_em_apap_UHoXmXCpvVGg9 Fits fine. It's chrome, not Matt silver like the dashboard, but still looks a lot better than the faded, worn, old one.1 point
