  1. Nobody should ever have to pay RRP. All I did was try Carwow > Drivethedeal > Broadspeed > Autoebid in that order, got the best offiicial email quote and phoned local dealers to price match, which one did without fuss. I see that some Mercs are now 40% off, but I'd still choose my RAV4 any day!

  2. The Android option would probably be better if you want to connect phones and Bluetooth sources. Also, the map apps can be a lot better. And don't even look at the potential price difference compared to the OEM options. The Android units can be really poor in build quality, though, so be careful on that point.

  4. Good point, and I have the same view, being aware of it. From speaking to people I've actually met (we had Prius owner 'meets' in the early days), a couple of people who actually did it (on original Mk 1 Prius) had no problems, because it was obvious (red triangle and other warning lights) and they pulled over pretty promptly (using only a little HV battery juice). I believe it needed 2+ gallons to persuade the system to restart. I've heard less reliable reports that later models didn't highlight it, and weren't aware they'd run out until the car stopped with a badly depleted HV battery, that wouldn't restart the car, or at best needed something to be reset by a dealer (or maybe these days someone with a Techstream or similar). I must emphasise though, I can't vouch for this. In the early days, a lot of us regarded it as a bit of a challenge to see who could go the furthest after the low fuel warning without running out, but since the stories of later cars (which may or may not have substance) I don't play that game any more.

  5. In my experience Toyota range remaining typically counts down to reserve rather than empty. I don't find it an issue once you are aware of it. It is typical Toyota caution as from what I understand restarting a fuel-exhausted hybrid is not an easy "just add fuel" operation.

  6. Yes, PeteB, it was. I don't have accurate towing consumption figures, but around 19-20 mpg towing 1600Kg over 1900 miles. Dave

  8. bit tricky when you are doing off a mobile phone, I never at any point said "as I posted earlier" I clearly stated "From an earlier Post" didn't realize it was a copyright issue, or even a possible disciplinary issue, seems somewhat draconian, anyone who had read the thread who have already seen it anyway, I was merely reproducing it.. without a claim

  11. How many people blank their EGR's or remove the DPF rather than fix/ replace them? I am not saying it's right but if someone stole your cat and you had a potential wait of over a month not being able to use your car until Toyota could replace it then I imagine it would be tempting to 'temporarily' bolt on a section of pipe? Personally I would go with a cheaper third party Cat section replacement. Best option would be if the police had the resources to nick the thieves in the first place.
