  2. I thought so too but what you're gonna do? πŸ˜‚ I ordered the Design back in August. Reading a lot of the AA/AC posts I didn't know if I was going to get it or not although the official Toyota posters said MY20 would start delivery 1st December. I guess I struck lucky. I certainly didn't plan it for sure and fully expected the retrofit. According to the My Toyota portal my order is still processing and the car I'm driving has not been built yet. πŸ˜‚. I was so suprised to get a call from the dealer. I did have a small problem with AA setup. I'm on Android 10 and was running AA on my phone in the old car. The installed AA app on my Pixel just kept erroring and refusing to run. Checking the AA FAQ there's another app called Android Auto for Phone Screens. I uninstalled the AA app and installed the one for phone screens and all was well. My stomach sank for a while though getting to the bottom of it. πŸ˜… Loving my new car though. It was SO worth the wait. Only day 2, still getting used to everything especially having driven stick for 20+ years! PS It's a Google thing not Toyota btw. AA was broken in Android 10. Google released AA for Phone Screens for Android 10 early Nov as a fix. Older Android versions are probably fine. I was running AA directly on the phone in my old car without a problem & expected the old app just to plug and play on the Toyota.

  3. Thanks. Just ordered from your recommendation. Black on black with perforated centre. 3 weeks wait. Will put up some pics if anyone else is interested. Hope they look decent.

  5. PeteB it’s definitely an electronic beep but to be honest it can almost sound like a squeak at times.

  7. Dispute their value giving adverts as proof. Select highest prices in ads you send them. This is a purely business negotiation, each side aims to screw the other. And/or offer to buy it back and fix it yourself. (I don’t know if that means you negotiate for the highest or lowest value!) Dont accept first offer. Lowballing is standard.

  8. A write-off is simply the insurance assessor determining that it is cheaper for the company to settle the claim with a payment, rather than repair the car. It is not a statement that the car is too badly damaged for it to be safely repaired. Many write-offs are sold to repairers, who sell them after repair at a profit. I have been told (but I cannot be sure it is true) that some assessors will write-off a car and tip-off an interested repairer, and then get a payment from the repairer when the car is re-sold. If so, the assessor has an incentive to write-off, rather than authorise repair. You could characterise such behaviour as a racket.

  9. Mpg is a bit of a myth, I can get 60plus on aygo or down in 40s. all down to style of driving, terrain , type of drive ie urban, rural, motorway etc

  10. The car is a Japanese Import I bought recently from a Polish chap, so I'm unsure of the provenance of the 100watt bulbs. By standard I meant standard halogen , not OEM. My experience in the past with these high wattage bulbs was they burnt out bulb holders, wiring and switch-gear but the Prius is currently demonstrating good tolerance to the extra current and heat. The light from them is excellent and when I go north I promise to remove them and insert birthday cake candles lest I shine an unwelcome light on Her Majesty's highways, ahem, beggin yer pardon m'lard. As Aaron points out the NCT do not check for wattage currently, just directional setting. What is the cost of OEM LED and do you have a part number? The dips are H11.

  11. I think I'm at the 6,000 mile mark now, the odometer is reading 111,101 miles! I do have a fair bit to say about it, but I'm lacking the time at the moment to put it down. I will say though that I drove Paddy to Berlin and back in October! The only thing that happened was that the bumper nearly fell off at the indicated 124mph I managed to get to! I am starting to write about the other cars I've got, and I've written a bit about Paddy on that website here. I've got a Lada to work on with a Rover engine, so there's not really any Toyota stuff related to them so I can't put them here. I'm away for a week now again but when I get back I'll give a full update.
