  1. Check the gearbox oil level, what has a coil pack got to do with gearbox issue Have you had any work done recently, it sounds like someone may have put a cable tie on your drive shaft, or do you have something on the aerial (topper or tinsel) No offence but please use proper English as it makes posts more readable and you will get more replies

  2. I'll look up the exact procedure when I get a chance, it is basically turn the ignition on whilst holding in the trip counter reset button for about ten seconds. Don't start the engine. Then comes the part where having three hands would be useful, as you need to fasten your seatbelt whilst holding in the button, I think. Your odometer mileage display should change to reab B-ON or B-OFF. B-OFF is what you need to see. This also turns off the passenger beeper, so remember to keep an eye on their seatbelt status if your warnings are off. I can't remember if it matters that you start on the main mileage display or one of the trip counters.

  4. Dave if it’s in danger of going up the exhaust then avoid driving through it, whether you’re driving a normal petrol/diesel car or a hybrid.

  5. Yes, the first time I DIY-serviced the Auris I was pleasantly surprised how generally easy it is to do routine maintenance on.

  6. I searched on YouTube and Paul is correct. One video say to make sure the trip is in ODO mode, not trip 1 or 2. I won't be doing this myself, but it's good to know.

  7. I didn't really understand what you are saying, but I guess you have a noise when the car is in gear. Does the noise happen whilst the car is stationary any in gear or moving. If stationary, does pressing the clutch stop the noise? This could relate to transmission problem! Does the noise increase with the engine speed or road speed. Possible causes. If moving and under load, then the engine could be shifting enough to cause exhaust or inlet parts to leak. An engine mount has broken causing a moving part to touch. Clutch or gearbox has a problem. A foreign object lodge in brake area, wheel bearing, loose wheel nuts! You need to give a more detailed description of when/how the noise has occurs, using my pointers, to roughly get an idea of possible causes. It's hard not being there in person to give a better diagnosis. You may need to find a friendly garage or person with a bit of knowledge locally to help you.

  9. That's useful to know, Good of you to report back!. Have you installed it on Windows 10? Was that all straightforward? Did you still have to use the X-Horse software that used to be part of the installation procedure? There was no need for any activation code when I installed mine about 3 years ago. Something's changed!

  12. So it did happen: when I needed to make an emergency brake (a guy that spun on the wet highway and came to my lane) and all I got was a slip into his fender and front wheel. No grip at all. The Falkens are going to be swapped as soon as I can. This time for real tyres.

  14. A bit of googling suggests, not unreasonably, that all new cars have tyres that are grossly overinflated from 5he factory, as a) they don’t know what car they’re going on to and b) said car may be sat for months in a parking lot and overinflation prevents flat spotting of the tyre. So, responsibility of the dealership to check and adjust prior to handover to customer. I’ll be interested to find out how the dealership addresses the issue.

  15. I've done some research and calculation: the Ziex ZE914 Ecorun have a high rolling resistance and replacing them with almost every premium tyre will save fuel between 0.15 and 0.5 l/100km for an average of 15% city, 15% country roads and 70% highway. Continental PremiumContact 6 are a great candidate, matching great dry and wet handling and breaking distances, resistance to aquaplaning with riding comfort and low rolling resistance (abut 20% less than the Falken's).

  16. ...do I deactivate the seatbelt warning on a 2005 Avensis. I can't move my car around the parking lot without that infernal beeping!
